Looks like Marvin Jones will have to settle for being the number 2 receiver again on a possible losing team, at least for 2016.

Not really. Boldin has lost a step and will most likely be #2 or #3.
Lions have Tate and Jones. They're going to get their splits among the 3.
I mean, Boldin was barely the #1 in San Fran. Except he had 110 targets and Torrey Smith had 61. But both had the same amount of TDs and Boldin only had 126 more yards.

Pretty much every article I have read says that Boldin understands he is vying for the #3 WR position.

If I was Marvin Jones, this signing would bring a sigh of relief. Boldin is a great WR 3 and will probably be productive in that offense.
Stafford shouldn't be forcing the ball to Marvin Jones like he did to Megatron, the more weapons the better for the Detroit Lions imo.

Stafford forces the ball to everyone.

I think you meant Roethlisburger
but yaaa Stafford sucks, I think that will become even more apparent this year.

Boldin will benefit Marvin Jones be preventing teams from double covering Marvin when they have to account for Boldin too. Just like AJ Green benefitted when Marvin Jones was on the field.

I have the same feeling about Marvin Jones as I did when Housh chose to leave the Bengals for Seattle in 2009.
Housh also had a comparable offer from the Bengals but chose to leave in hopes of taking the next step and becoming a true WR1.
The reality is it never happened and Housh even openly regretted leaving the Bengals once his career was over.
Zac Taylor 2019-2020: 6 total wins
Zac Taylor 2021-2022: Double-digit wins each season, plus 5 postseason wins
Zac Taylor 2023: 9 wins despite losing Burrow half the season
Zac Taylor 2024: Started 1-4. If he can turn this into a playoff appearance, it will be impressive.
Sorry for Party Rocking!

Difference is that TJ was with the Bengals for 7 years. And he also had a decent year with the Seahawks his first year. But he was also 30 years old when he left the Bengals.
Marvin Jones is only 26 and has only played in 3 seasons compared to TJ's 7. Granted, Jones was here for 4, he only played in 3 due to injury.
Plus, Jones is a different player than TJ.

TJ proved to be durable. Jones has not.

Boldin is like the slow guy to go across the middle kinda a small TE hes not fast or seperates anymore. Marvin will be one of 2 #1s up there probly and boldin wont be one unless someone is hurt.

Yeah, you're right. Once again, Housh doesn't know what he's talking about. Played in the NFL and we haven't, but still he's just talking to hear his head roar.

That is also very true.

I could be wrong. Jones may have a worse career than TJ after he left. But it's always a big mystery. I just think Bengals fans are under-valuing Jones

Jones is injury prone, I would bet he doesn't make it through the season without missing games. That was my biggest concern resigning him for big bucks. Too much money for someone not on the field.
