Peerman gets activated not WJ3
#1
Dumb move. The season is lost, get your rookie valuable reps instead of activating a running back that offers no value getting reps on offense.

Im sure someone will make the special teams argument, but STs has been fine so far without him.

So stupid. Could have used the rest of the season to get the guy reps.

Guess we will let him rot away on the bench for the first couple years of his career like our other first round draft picks from years past.

We are 3-6. I could give a damn about special teams. Get the kid some playing time and get him ready to make an impact next year.

Typical Marv move. This year is toast and Peerman isn't going to change anything anyways.

Here's Hobspin's article: http://www.bengals.com/news/article-1/Peerman-practicing-Rookie-Jackson-to-IR/c2c27ab6-0aa8-412f-91d3-52e68859b670

He says, "...the Bengals are indicating they are still all in on this season even with a 3-6-1 record."

My God the team is so stupid that they don't even know when they are lying to themselves. These blokes haven't been "all in" on this season in weeks.

In the last 6 games the team has 1 win (against Cleveland the worst team in the league), 1 tie and 4 losses.

Depends on how comfortable Marvin is in his job.  If he's confident he's coming back next year, then write the season off and give the rookie some experience.  If he thinks he may be gone, a 3rd RB is going to help more than a 7th CB.

You know WJ3 can play special teams too.

Is WJ3 healthy enough to be activated anyways?

Seems we are assuming he can come in and contribute but maybe the guy isn't even capable yet?

IDK the timeline of his injury well enough.

Have you seen Peerman run? No he's not going to help.

Peerman was ineffective running against 3rd string defenses in the preseason. Keep that in mind.

Paul Dehner Jr. reported that both were healthy enough to come off of IR and the team had been leaning towards WJIII until the Bernard injury.

I am not happy at all with Marvin or management but I think this decision means that Dre K is ok and that the rookie would have been activated if Gio had not been hurt.

Still- I agree with the op.

We were down to Hill and Burkhead. Besides what he brings to Special Teams, Peerman was smart move. Hill is one run away from being gone (he's been playing through a chest arm injury most of the season). You really think we can finish the season with just Burkhead. Do some of you guys even watch football?

Despite the pity party that's raging in this thread we're still only a game and a half out of first place and Special Teams has been atrocious this year.

You don't throw in the towel until it's over. That's a losing mentality.

This move should seal marvins fate. Why the hell would you bring back a special teamer over WJ3. It makes no sense. Cedric isn't going to replace Gio. He's not near good enough. But WJ3 has a chance to make an impact on the worst part of the team. So ****** dumb

Well, I agree with the statement....but, Pittsburgh is getting Indy this week without Andrew Luck, so mark that a win for them....

If you think a rookie CB who missed a portion of camp and is coming off of IR with no experience is going to be a game changer then you are delusional. Dennard is next in line and he hasn't even had his shot yet. That's what people should be upset about.

A captain on Special Teams is more important.

Special Teams aside from Nugent has been fine without Peerman. Hill has been fine, he got banged up a few weeks ago but hasn't showed signs that his injury is bothering him. Hill and Burkhead splitting reps isn't that much different than Hill and Gio. Burkhead is just as effective at catching passes out of the backfield, hes just cant hurt you as much in space like Gio would. Cedric Peerman is a dud at being an actual running back. Jackson getting valuable reps at corner would have been the better choice.

Good move. This team needs all the leadership it can get.

You never know until the fat lady sings. Isn't that what's great about Football? A team like the Giants can back into the playoffs and make a run for the title or a team with their backup QB can upset a good team out of nowhere.

Not saying it is gonna happen with this team but at least it gives me some hope.

Except that Hill and Burkhead splitting reps is not the same as Hill and Bernard splitting reps, because if Hill/ Bernard splitting reps leaves on of them hurt, which it did, we still had another running back in Burkhead. If we put Peerman on IR and one of Hill/Burkhead got hurt, we have no other reserve running back. It's a numbers game, and it's the smart move. Jackson would not play, he has no NFL snaps and they are not going to play him over Dennard or Smith anyway just to get him reps....
