Marvin demanded an indoor facility after the 2010 season or else he was going to coach elsewhere.  Mike said no, and Marvin showed his spine by caving in on his demands almost immediately.  I'm not sure why anyone has tossed the guy a glut of respect since then, but people often seem surprised when I mention Marvin was the first to make "quitter" demands after 2010.
