When you talk about taking care of roster needs with the draft...it's important to note that the last few drafts have not yielded a guy that started from Day 1.
It's not like trading for a bunch of picks is going to mean 3-4 rookie starters. These guys would likely be backups for 2-3 years then start.
But...it's definitely a nice idea. I'd be in favor of the McCarron trade and I'd consider the other trade.
