2023 In-Season Roster Thread
#21
After the preseason games it wasn't a giant shock. But going into preseason I figured Siemian would beat out Browning umm fairly easily.

I like it. Think our backups might be able to beat the Cardinals.

Bengals have signed former Cowboys QB Will Grier to the PS. He had over 300 yards passing & 45 rushing in their last pre-season game, but became expendable with the Lance trade.

https://bengalswire.usatoday.com/2023/08/30/bengals-sign-will-grier-practice-squad/

I will start to build out the Practice Swlquad today as it is announced, and if we make any waiver claims to the 53.

Could you imagine an OL of Carman-Scharping-Hill-Ford-Smith?

Dear lord, that would be horrifying.

And if Ford gets bumped out when Collins comes back, who would play OG spots?
We saw last year how Scharping was at RG.
Would they consider moving Scharping to C, let Hill play RG, and have either:
Collins at LG, Smith stay at RT or...
Smith to LT, Carman to LG, Collins at RT?
Zac Taylor 2019-2020: 6 total wins
Zac Taylor 2021-2022: Double-digit wins each season, plus 5 postseason wins
Patience has paid off!

Sorry for Party Rocking!

IOL depth is our biggest weakness. Maybe QB2.

Then TE & safety depth. Though we have the young pieces in place at safety.

Trent Taylor signs with the Bears. Good for him. Will always remember that 2PT vs KC.

Opens up a OR spot in the PS for us. Lassiter?

The Bears also claimed for Bengal DE Khalid Kareem.

WR/PR Jalen Reagor was cut by Minny today. Former 1st rounder, IIRC. Might be worth a PS look.

Well, no word on if we made any claims from the waiver wire.

I'm sure that the team likely put in claims for plenty of players, but being so far back on the list they likely never had a chance of reaching the Bengals.

Volson is meh, but I like him, and he has far exceeded my expectations

We got 3 last year despite being further down the order.

DT Christian Covington has landed on the Chargers' practice squad.

The Bengals claimed no one off of waivers. No word on if they tried to claim someone

No Bengal player waived was claimed

so look for a Bengal-developed heavy practice squad.

We will probably know more when they head out to practice rather than waiting for the official announcement

Practice squad players seen by media at practice

Grier
Lassiter
Jackson
Gunter
Morgan
Kirkland
Gilliam
Hudson
Jones
George
Thomas
Heyward
Murray
Davis

RB Demetric Felton has been signed to the PS after being waived by the Browns yesterday

Raymond Johnson is not on the field. It is likely he's been signed as a free agent elsewhere

by my count 1 to go.

Losing Johnson sucks. Way more of a player than Ford or T. Hill.
