This is the first I'm hearing of a Tycen Anderson injury.
I have the Heart of a Lion! I also have a massive fine and a lifetime ban from the Pittsburgh Zoo...

It might be an "injury". He can use the year on IR.

Huh? He played very well throughout the preseason. Joe Goodberry put together some of his best plays here.

He's been on the rehab field this week. Supposedly he's dealing with a hamstring issue

He was always seen as a developmental prospect for a year at least. If they can hide him on IR then it'll be a savvy move. Thanks for the video tho.

Do they usually keep 4 rb’s? With Mixon dominating the carries, there wasn’t much opportunity there for Evans last year at rb3. Can’t imagine rb4 getting much work on sundays.

they only kept 3 last season...Mixon, Perine, and Evans with Williams on the PS.  Unless they really need the special team depth, I can't see a 4th RB ever being active on game day

This is what I was thinking. But they would not have brought back Williams if they were not going to keep him.  And I can't see them releasing Evans or Perine.

Is Mixon or any of the other RBs dinged up?

But that still leaves a cut to be made of the active roster, right?

So, is this an accurate state of the roster?

I. Active Roster (53).

A. Offense (26)
1. QB (2): Burrow; Allen.
2. RB (4): Mixon; Perine, Evans, T. Williams
3. WR (6): Chase, Highins, Boyd; M. Thomas, Morgan, T. Taylor.
4. TE (4): Hurst; D. Sample, Wilcox, Asiasi
5. OL (10): J. Williams, Volson, Karras, Cappa, Collins; Adeniji, Carman, T. Hill, Scharping, Smith.

B. Defense (24)
1. DE (5): Hendrickson, Hubbard; Ossai, C. Sample, Gunter
2. DT/NT (5): Reader, BJ Hill; Tupou, Carter, Tufele
3. LB (5): L. Wilson, Pratt; ADG, Bailey, Johnston
4. CB (6): Awuzie, Apple, Hilton; Flowers, George, J. Davis
5. S (3): Bell; D. Hill, M. Thomas

C. Specialists (3)
1. PK: McPherson
2. P: Huber
3. LS: Harris

D. Not taking up a spot (1)
1. Bates, S

When Bates officially takes a spot, I'd expect someone on offense to go. 4 TEs does not make much sense, so I'd expect Wilcox or Sample to go on IR to make room for Bates.

II. Lists

A. IR (6)
1. Holyfield, RB
2. Brown, OL
3. Kareem, DE
4. Taylor-Britt, CB
5. Prince, OT
6. Andersen, S

B. PUP (2)
1. B. Wilson, S
2. Bachie, LB

III. Practice Squad (16/16)

1. Browning, QB
2. Irwin, WR
3. Lassiter II, WR
4. Moss, TE
5. Bowers, TE
6. Cochran, OT
7. Gillam, OG
8. Johnson III, DE
9. Shelvin, NT
10. D. Davis, DT
11. Jones, LB
12. Scales, LB
13. Tell III, CB
14. Corker, DB
15. Chrisman, P
16. Adomitis, LS

What does Williams bring to the table that Evans doesn't do as well or better?

Also, CBT will be rejoining the team for sure, so even if they Release Wilcox, when CBT and Anderson rejoin 53, who else gets dropped?

They will worry about what roster moves to make for CBT and others in 4-6 weeks.  Right now they have to worry about what to do when they activate Bates.

There are always injuries.  Things could be very different by the time CBT returns.

More time in the system? The Bengals went with 4 RB for years when Cedric Peerman became a ST ace. Maybe Williams stepped up on ST in practice and we haven't seen it in the limited pre-season snaps spread out among multiple players to see what they can or can't do, most of which are no longer here.

I also see the Bengals running the ball more this year as I expect them to be ahead late in games more than last year. Having a 4th RB always at the ready may help down the road for load management.

Yep.

"Sorry to hear about your elbow injury."

"But, coach? What elbow injury?"

"The one that's going to get you paid for a year while you get ready to break onto the roster next year when Bates is gone. Unless you'd rather try your luck on the streets?"

"Oh, THAT elbow injury. Yeah, it's a little stiff but I don't see it holding me back next year at all."

They also used Williams quite a bit during the PS for pass blocking and he did well so maybe they feel more comfortable with him doing that? Not that Evans has dome bad but the coaches seem very reluctant to even give him theopportunities.
