Agreed. They may have to "settle" for their 3rd or 4th rated WR, but if he's the guy highest on their board, then he's the pick.

The Bengals board, along with most NFL teams, looks nothing like the media boards that we see all over the Internet. We had Eifert ranked as the #8 overall prospect in 2013.

I think Sheppard is going to be an incredible game changing player.

We double dipped at OT last year and I could see two WRs this year if the draft fell that way.

It would be awesome if we could trade back and get Thomas or Sheppard later in the first or early in second.

Apparently, the Bengals have Michael Thomas ranked as their #1 WR. That's what a "source" told NFL Draft Countdown. Not sure if the source is Thomas' agent trying to spur up interest or if the Bengals are wading into the smokescreen pool.

Bengals and smoke screen? Doesn't work. When a team wants the same player as the Bengals, they jump right in front of us and take them.

Michael Thomas's production is kind of ordinary. Lifetime in college 113/1602 18 tds.

Others...

Laquan Treadwell 202/2393 21 tds
Rashard Higgins 239/2349 31 tds
Tyler Boyd 254/3361 21 tds
Corey Coleman 173/3009 33tds
Josh Doctson 215/3178 34 tds
Sterling Shepard 233/3482 26 tds
Will Fuller 144/2512 30 tds
Aaron Burbridge 165/2174 10 tds
Keyarris Garrett 219/3209 22 tds
Tajae Sharp 277/3486 16 tds
Malcolm Mitchell 174/2350 16 tds
Leonte Carroo 122/2373 20 tds
De'Runnya Wilson 133/1949 22 tds
Pharoah Cooper 138/2163 18 tds
Braxton Miller 26/341 3 tds

I tried to draw a parallel looking at AJ Green's numbers, but actually his came up kind of average as well.
AJ Green went 166/2619 23tds. Green's three years he went 56, 53, and 57 in catches.

So in summary, if the Bengals like Thomas, they are looking at more than just stats. And it wouldn't surprise me if the rumor is true. At his pro day he ran a 4.43.

The Bengals try to use smokescreen entering the draft, but it fools no one. Look back at 2010, when we took Gresham. Almost everyone had TE listed as our #1 need. Practically every TE was mentioned being linked to us through visits and workouts. The only TE no one saw listed was Gresham. However, fans and media still knew we were going to draft him. Alas, we drafted him.

In this case, there isn't a consensus #1 WR so I'm fully expecting us to take whatever the highest rated WR is available at #24.

Thomas also had Zeke on his team so college stats don't mean everything. I remember how excited we all were when Chase Coffman was drafted at Tight End after putting up record breaking stats in college. I like a lot of different Wide Receivers this year and think several of them could strive playing alongside Green and Eifert. Give me Treadwell, Doctson, Coleman, Thomas, Boyd, or Shepherd in the first or second round and I would be happy. Only guy I don't care for that we are sometimes linked to is Fuller from Notre Dame.
