But Costner has definitely been in some good movies that aren’t Field of Dreams:

The Untouchables
Bull Durham (which I actually like better than FoD)
JFK

Just to name a few. He’s also done some great tv (Yellowstone, Hatfields & McCoys).

As for Michael Mann? He’s made some absolute classics like Heat and Last of the Mohicans. Collateral is super underrated, and should be shown to anyone that thinks Tom Cruise can’t act. Thief was also a great directorial debut, which still holds up today.

Costner is one of the best. He has a Casino in the Black Hills that full of memorabilia on the walls.

Edit: He's up there on my hero list with the Drunk Mercenary Nicomo Cosca lol.
I have the Heart of a Lion! I also have a massive fine and a lifetime ban from the Pittsburgh Zoo...

I’ve always enjoyed Costner. Even movies that aren’t particularly great like Prince of Thieves.

Dances With Wolves, Robin Hood, and Wyatt Earp were all you huge blockbusters too.  Fwiw, I'm personally partial to Tin Cup, and think it's a super underated movie.

Kevin Costner at one my point was one of the biggest stars in all of Hollywood.  Waterworld, and it's enormous budget is probably what caused him to slide.  That said, the man has had a career that can already be rivaled by a handful of actors.  And anyone that dismisses it doesn't know movies.

The Postman did awful in the theatre but is one of those movies that survive.

I agree Connery was the best thing about The Untouchables, but he’s hardly the only good part. Costner was a PERFECT Elliot Ness (seriously is there many other actors easier to root for?), De Niro was a great Capone (that baseball bat scene…), and not to mention an Ennio Morricone (RIP GOAT) score. Brian De Palma’s crime movies were almost on point, and Untouchables was no exception.

If the Untouchables is "bad" then 95% (minimum) of movies are bad.

Fwiw, I'm now imagining you watching A Fish Called Wanda or Raising Arizona while sniffing your own farts.  You're just wafting them into your face, as as you have Morrissey playing lightly in the background.
