Bengals are a slow team
#1
Texans and Ravens exposed it.

Ravens wrs looked much faster than our DBs. Their RBs were faster than our LBs.

Our WRs outside of Chase were slow and couldn't get open.

Nah. They’re a slow offense outside of Chase.

There is a ton of speed on that defense (CTB, Dax, Turner, etc).

CTB, Turner, and Dax Hill all have elite speed according to their RAS scores...so that's just not true.

To be fair, Bengals drafted a ton of speed on offense this year, guys have just been hurt and havent been given reps. Charlie Jones, Chase Brown, and Yoshi all have elite speed. I think the Bengals knew they were lacking speed on offense and invested in trying to fix it...those guys just haven't been given opportunities or have been injured.

To be fair everyone got a little bit older since last season.. Even new born babies got older.. The end is coming. Get old or die.. That's the only option available..

CTB and Turner are poor tacklers.

The Ravens wrs looked so much faster. Our team misses a ton of tackles.

Been harping on tackling all season it's as bad as I've seen since 2020 season..

Fast defenses don't allow this.

Ok, but that has nothing to do with your (inaccurate) premise that the team is overall on the slower side. There’s some absolute burners in that secondary.

There’s a lot more to it than just raw speed. These guys are young, and going to get burned occasionally (ie make mistakes).

Yeah several of the explosive plays came from a zone coverage that we allowed the WR to stop and sit in the hole in the zone.

This had more to do with guys being out of position than them not being "fast".

Yep.

If anything is getting exposed right now it’s Lou, not “lack of speed.”

Idc how good the 2 safeties you lost were, if there’s this much drop off the first place you need to look is at the coaches. The Ravens can plug their young draft picks like Hamilton and Linderbaum in there and not miss a beat.

Agree on offense. They played a ton of man last night because their run D stinks and they have zero pass rush besides Hendrickson. Turner is fast but a rookie in single coverage will make mistakes. CBT is good and fast. Hill is fast but some of the safety play is just being in the right spot and Scott blows. Awuzie looks awful post ACL

but new borns get faster as they age, and then slow down at some tipping point

Okay but doesn't have to do with team speed. I definitely think we need more speed on offense. But the defense seems okay in that regard.

Our DB room is the fastest in the team's history.  They may appear to play slow, that is much different, but saying that they are slow is an indictment on one's own knowledge of the team.

Yes, our DB's are the fastest we have ever had according to the scouting 40 times but it looks like they are slow because they seem to be out of position too often on coverage which makes them look slow to get to the ball which they are not.
