Election Challenges, Protests, Conspiracy Theories, and Moral Panics
Again, no need to start a thread to remind people that the military swore an oath to the constitution....not the President.

Quote:Joint Chiefs Remind U.S. Forces That They Defend The Constitution

The U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff reminded American forces Tuesday of their oath to defend the Constitution following the attacks on the Capitol building last week.
The letter was addressed to the joint force, which is made up of about 1.3 million active-duty service members and more than 811,000 National Guardsmen and reservists — all of whom swore an oath to "support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic."

"The violent riot in Washington, D.C. on January 6, 2021 was a direct assault on the U.S. Congress, the Capitol building, and our Constitutional process," the memorandum said. "We witnessed actions inside the Capitol building that were inconsistent with the rule of law. The rights of freedom of speech and assembly do not give anyone the right to resort to violence, sedition and insurrection."

The Joint Chiefs emphasized in the letter that President-elect Joe Biden will be inaugurated on Jan. 20, becoming the 46th commander in chief, and that any acts to disrupt the constitutional process not only violate military values, but the law.

The Joint Chiefs of Staff is made up of the top eight military officials in the country. It includes the chair and vice chair, the commandant of the Marine Corps, the chiefs of staff of the Army and Air Force, and the chiefs of the National Guard Bureau, naval operations and space operations. The chair of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Gen. Mark Milley, was appointed by President Trump in December 2018. He and the other Joint Chiefs members are military advisers to the president, the secretary of defense and the National Security Council.

A lady I work with legit asked what my employer was going to do when the internet blackout was put into effect.  Lots of people apparently believe this shit.

My cousin's daughter's best friend also heard about someone in the military whose commander said exactly the same thing.

That can't be a coincidence.

Now Biden won't be president and my vote was wasted.

Just happened to think of this because this morning, my wife was communicating with someone online who still maintains Biden will not be sworn in.

"What?!?!?!" my wife asked.

"You've been following the wrong news sources," she was then told. Apparently she is one of the "sheeple."

Wondering what happens if the fake sources are right today and Biden is inaugurated?

If it doesn't happen today it can always happrn tomorrow.  At least that is what I tell myself when I think the three members of The Graeme Edge Band could technically reform and make their first new album since 1977.  We all need some unreasonable hope to keep us going.

I'm surprised that no one had posted this, and this seemed the appropriate place. Seems AOC wants money to "deprogram" "white supremacists". If I had to hazard a guess I'd bet her definition of what constitutes a "white supremacist" is pretty damned broad. Maybe we can put them in re-education camps while we do it?

It’s happening. The blackout is in effect but it’s a spec ops super secret blackout the space force made. Trump is actually having plastic surgery as I type this on Air Force one. He is going to go full undercover as Biden but will still be prez. He has to do it this way to catch the satanic cannibals.

This is logically the best thing to tell his remaining hardcore fanboys and fangirls

My nephew jokingly posted a photo of the swearing in with the subtitle "...how Trump can still win".

I'll go deep later tonight to see how Q is spinning this and how the Proud Boys are preparing to "fight".

"Deprogramming" appears to be the reporter's word. The word AOC used was "de-radicalize." She may be referring to counseling resources already in existence for people seeking to withdraw from the movement, services to which people voluntarily commit themselves. After being chased out of the Capitol by a disinformed mob, it appears she now considers online disinformation as a public safety issue.

She's not the only one.

Night before last Tucker did a segment on Democrats using the "D-word" in reference to Trump supporters. They wonder if we have reached a point where victims of Trump lies could or should be more actively countered in the interest of public safety.

Tucker made it clear--"The Left" now wants to trample on the free speech rights of each and every one of those hundreds of those ordinary Americans who broke into the Capitol building two weeks ago and chased AOC out--along with those who egged them on.

Yeah, that pesky Bill of Rights, always getting in the way of the "progressive" wish list.

Of course you have, you're in that "progressive" camp.  Trading liberty for safety is fine with you as long as the right party is doing it.

Everyone has free speech rights, even loons who will buy into the cons and lies of others, who also have free speech rights.  I do appreciate you illustrating in person the desire to limit our rights coming from the "progressive" left.  Always in the name of public safety.

Interestingly enough, this is how you can tell that there is no mainstream progressive movement in the country, really. Liberty for safety/order is a conservative position, while liberty for equity is the modern liberal position.

Someone ask me again why I can't "reason" with Trump supporters.

Absolutely anything said negative about them or him is deemed an "attack" by the "left".

Truth has never mattered to them.  No sense trying to explain anything to them either.

Truth is what Trump says is truth.  Of course, now that he gave up on his quest to save this country and its people from ruin and has flown off to his resort I can see why they'd be a bit disenfranchised.  They should be, at least.

I'd have agreed with you as recently as three years ago.  I don't believe that's the case any longer.

I'm speaking on the grander, ideological spectrum of things from a political science perspective. It's still the case.

If you're speaking as to the actual proper definition of these things, then yes, I'd agree.  However, currently, many labels have been usurped and slapped on movements or ideas to which they do not belong.  Deliberately, of course.
