This seems to be the narrative every summer since 2016.  The o-line sucks, but it's hard to tell just how bad due to the great DL.  Then we find out that the o-line actually just truly sucks.  Every single year.  I hope for a different outcome this season.

Jonah sure looked good going against the quick Hubbard...

And good news hearing Jordan pancaked Geno. We have a decent Center in Hopkins.

I am more concerned about the right side of the Line. We will see if XSF is an upgrade.

Geoff Hobson

@GeoffHobsonCin
1h
Burrow sharper today. Third down 7 on 7 period hit 8 of 10. Got picked by Bynes in team, where he also threw great ball to Uzomah for deep sideline completion

@GeoffHobsonCin
Day 2 in pads. AJ not up as expected since he’s not scrimmaging tomorrow. Scrimmage is on field and not in stadium

I know some aren't impressed with leadership unless the team wins. But Joe is a team guy thru and thru #paytheman.

James Rapien

@JamesRapien
Joe Burrow looked much better in the red zone today. He found Tyler Boyd and Mike Thomas for TDs. Spread the ball around to Auden Tate and Joe Mixon as well. His only incompletion was a throw away #Bengals

Higgins still out for most of practice.

@JamesRapien
#Bengals rookie wide receiver Tee Higgins participated in individual drills, but isn’t working with the team in 11-on-11 or 7-on-7 for a second straight practice. He’s been dealing with a sore hamstring

Sounds like we (I) may have wrote off Mike Thomas too soon as he seems to be a camp hall of famer thus far.

Bynes has never been a "scrub" but he's also not been a full-time starter either.
The most games he's started in a season is 11.
However, he has 26 PDs in 9 seasons, which is solid. He also puts up decent tackle numbers when he plays.
He should be an equivalent or better replacement of Vigil.
Zac Taylor 2019-2020: 6 total wins
Zac Taylor 2021-2022: Double-digit wins each season, plus 5 postseason wins
Patience has paid off!

So did Armon Binns, Damion Willis, etc.

He’s definitely better than Vigil, and it’s almost a guarantee he starts here this season.

Well yea, but it's not like Bynes has a lot of established competition for starting. Prolly gonna be him and Pratt as starters with Wilson coming in on 3rd down.

Wow, he is winning a starting spot.

Just like Vigil did last year.  Smirk

Was Vigil competing against 3 newly drafted LBers? One of them the 1st pick of the 3rd round?

When Vigil won his starting spot our LB corps included

Vincent Rey...7 years 37 NFL starts
Kevin minter...2nd round pick with 37 NFL starts
Vontaze Burfict...Pro Bowler with 56 NFL starts

Bynes is winning a starting position in a LB corps that has a combined 9 NFL starts.

BTW Pratt was taken at 72 while Logan was taken at 65.  No real difference.

Looking back we should of started Pratt over Vigil right off the bat IMO.
