GOP lawmaker' calls for Rep. Schiff to be tossed from Intel Committee
#1
Well, this is fun.

https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/politics/2019/04/10/matt-gaetz-adam-schiff-pencil-resolution/3430443002/

Quote:A Republican lawmaker has introduced a resolution calling for Rep. Adam Schiff to be ousted from heading the House Intelligence Committee and asking that his security clearance be revoked.

Florida Rep. Matt Gaetz, a staunch supporter of President Donald Trump, titled the resolution the "PENCIL" act, a nod to insults made by the president, who dubbed Schiff, "little pencil neck Adam Schiff."

The resolution's title in full is the Preventing Extreme Negligence with Classified Information Licenses. It calls for Schiff's ousting from the committee because he "can no longer be trusted" and claims Schiff made a series of false statements about Trump.

Schiff has been heavily criticized since Attorney General William Barr revealed that special counsel Robert Mueller did not find a conspiracy between Russia and the Trump campaign during the 2016 election.

#BREAKING: Today I filed the “PENCIL Act,” expressing the sense of the House of Representatives that “Congressman Adam Schiff should be removed from the House Intelligence Committee and his security clearance immediately revoked.”

Many Republicans, including Trump, have called for Schiff to resign and accused the Democrat from California of spending years lying about the president on national television. Schiff is part of the so-called "Gang of Eight," a group of senior lawmakers privy to secretive intelligence information.

The resolution alleges Schiff "can no longer be trusted by his colleagues in Congress or the American people."

"It is the sense of the House of Representatives that Congressman Adam Schiff should be removed from the Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence of the House and that his security clearance should be revoked immediately," the resolution said.

Schiff has shrugged off the attacks from Republicans and his Democratic colleagues have defended him. He and other Democrats have continued to push for the full release of Mueller's report instead of relying on a four-page letter from Barr, who was nominated by Trump just before the end of the probe, that offered some of the conclusions.

A redacted version of the report is expected to soon be released, Barr told Congressthis week.

Schiff addressed the attacks head-on last month during a committee hearing, where he laid out all the evidence of the Trump campaign's interactions with Russians. "I think it’s immoral. I think it’s unethical. I think it’s unpatriotic. And yes, I think it’s corrupt," Schiff said.

If there was ever a cult devoted to a POTUS it is the one that supports Trump.  In my life I don't think I've seen such immature and, let's face it, stupid, "official" actions by party members just to get in good with the President.

But I'm only 49.

I love it when politicians come up with insulting backronyms for people they ideologically oppose.

It really makes for productive political discussion.

Yeah that kills it right there.  If you have serious concerns, then take it seriously.

Did he at least actually qualify for the security clearance on his own or did he need someone to push it through after being denied?

1- Trump calling someone names is an issue, and this is the kind of giant time wasting we get because of it.
2- Gaetz is an empty partisan opportunist who does little to nothing for the office he spends time in.
3- It's pretty funny. I mean, really, it's at least chuckle worthy. The origin of it isn't... a sitting president isn't going to be able to do much dealmaking (which is what the position has become) by insulting the people he needs to sit down together... but kudos for the acronym.

Well, Nunes recused himself. And, it turns out, Nunes has been far more truthful than Schumer.

So what's good for the goose, unless you're a liberal Senator from NY......

...or said he would and in reality didn't

Quote:What did Nunes say he would do?

This is what he said on April 6 right before the House Ethics Committee announced it was investigating whether Nunes broke House rules by revealing classified information in conversations with the media about the Russia investigation. Mind the phrasing:

“I believe it is in the best interests of the House Intelligence Committee and the Congress for me to have Representative Mike Conaway, with assistance from Representatives Trey Gowdy and Tom Rooney, temporarily take charge of the Committee’s Russia investigation while the House Ethics Committee looks into this matter,” his statement said. “I will continue to fulfill all my other responsibilities as Committee Chairman, and I am requesting to speak to the Ethics Committee at the earliest possible opportunity in order to expedite the dismissal of these false claims.”

Nunes never used the word recuse or outlined what stepping aside meant.

Then, he mostly stayed out of the public eye — until the last few weeks.

Why are we talking about Nunes’ non-recusal now?
Because a couple of weeks ago, CNN reported Nunes went to CIA headquarters to review intelligence documents related to Russia. Democrats started complaining that he was still too involved.

In an interview with Fox News a few days later, Nunes said he was still handling the portion of the committee's investigation related to whether Obama officials inappropriately requested the unmasking of the names of Trump campaign officials in intelligence documents. Unmasking is the term for revealing the names of U.S. citizens in intelligence reports who were swept up as part of surveillance of foreign officials. Their names remain secret until top officials request them.

“Simply put, I’m still the chairman of the committee,” Nunes said. “The way to look into this is that I’m still read into everything, but ... I was going to set at least the Russia side of the investigation aside because I didn't want to be the face of this investigation. But everything else, I’m still in charge of. … Especially the unmasking.”

The unmasking of the names of Trump transition officials in intercepted communications was the topic Nunes said he was looking into during one of his White House visits. The communications, he said at the time, “had nothing to do with Russia.”

Then the Intelligence Committee on Wednesday issued subpoenas for former National Security Advisor Michael Flynn and President Trump's longtime attorney Michael Cohen. Nunes also issued three subpoenas to intelligence agencies for documents about former Obama administration officials who authorized the earlier unmasking, apparently without committee Democrats signing off on the subpoenas.

As committee chairman, Nunes signed off on them all.

To associate the word truthful with Devin Nunes is bold. I have to warn the WH about documents the WH gave me! I have written a damning memo that needs to be released so the world can see a made up scandal! If Trump has committed a crime, we need to be there to protect him nonetheless! I recuse myself and nonetheless do Trump's bidding by launching ponitless counter-investigations!

What a spineless loyalist. He'd lie about the color of the sky if he thought it helps Trump.
His cow, however, seems candid.

How so?

He didn't recuse himself and he stayed involved in the investigation continually.

I don't quite know about Adam Schiff and very much would like to wait for the Mueller report before claiming he lied about Trump. I mean, the opinion on this is based on 4 pages from Trump's AG that was handpicked for that occasion alone. That's too thin to go out on a limb and call Adam Schiff things. Maybe he lied, maybe he exaggerated, maybe he did not. How would one know for sure.

In Nunes' case, however... it's quite evident that the unmasking scandal, the FISA scandal, the warning the WH about documents the WH gave him scandal... these all were built on false premises and lies, designed to hand Trump talking points, and all pretty much fell flat by now. He probably also lied about his recusal

Adam Schiff said he had proof of collusion.  Many times.  Over the course of two years.

But o$#%@#% look away....

Wow.  Maybe if you actually learned the facts you wouldn't post such ignorant BS.
