Hero of Beirut Attacks
#1
Just in case anyone was not aware, Paris was but one terror attack last week. There was an attack in Beirut killing 45 and injuring over 200.

Most of the western world hasn't given two farts, let alone shits, about this attack. Maybe it is our preferential treatment to a fellow western nation, or maybe it is the smaller death toll. Either way, one story out of this is a man that helped keep the death toll lower than it was.

Quote:A father, with his young daughter watching, sacrificed himself to save others when terrorists struck Beirut last week.

The day before the horrific massacre in central Paris left the world reeling, two attacks during rush hour in Lebanon’s capital city killed 45 and wounded more than 200 others.

If not for the heroic actions of one man, the death toll would have been much higher. And now, days later, his heroism is being recognized.

Adel Termos was walking in an open-air market with his daughter, according to reports, when the first suicide bomber detonated his explosives. Amid the instant chaos, Termos spotted the second bomber preparing to blow himself up, and made the quick decision to tackle him to the ground. The bomb went off, killing Termos, but saving countless others, including his daughter’s.

So sad that there is a family left fatherless in this way, just as so many other fathers, brothers, sons, sisters, daughters, mothers, and more have died in acts like this, like the ones in Paris and Baghdad over the weekend, like 9/11. It's nice to see that there are people that are so selfless like this, though. That family will be mourning, and they should. But they should also be tremendously proud of his actions.

Not trying to demean the effect it has on the people, but since the Hairiri assassination in 2005, there's been a pretty regular bombing or some kind of terror attack there. Paris was different in that these kind of attacks aren't as common in western cultures.

Yes, after a couple of days, this one came out.
Respect to the family. Kudos to the father, his sacrifice made sure that his daughter survived.
