It's interesting and I feel your pain. I used to be a huge NFL fan, but got rid of all my team merchandise when mine refused to come out of the locker room for the national anthem. I am still a fan and every year think we have a reasonable chance to win another Super Bowl.

I never got to meet any players from my team, but when we moved to Florida I got to meet some of the 1972 Dolphins. Back in the day many players had to have an offseason job because at the time Larry Csonka was making $50k which was huge. Some of the linemen were selling cars, insurance and mobile homes.

Don't get too carried away with the NFL and try to spend more time with your family and improving your own character. Learn to appreciate other teams and the science of football. It will relieve some of your frustration.
