Impeachmen' 2: Electoral Boogaloo
#41
Again, the republican argument seems to be a combination of "democrats have wanted Trump out since day 1" and "democrats are rushing to get Trump out of office."  Which is it?  It's the knee-jerk and rushed reaction that you've been pushing for 1,460 days!

Republicans sure do fiddle with their masks a lot.  And Darrell Issa looks like Shredder, sans helmet.

Mr. Richmond had one of the best speeches so far, IMO.
"A great democracy has got to be progressive, or it will soon cease to be either great or a democracy..." - TR

"The test of our progress is not whether we add more to the abundance of those who have much; it is whether we provide enough for those who have too little." - FDR

the argument of "why bother this late?" is a really bad one. The precedent must be set that these are not excusable actions from the President.

GOP: FBI investigations against Trump, Democrats not going to the inauguration, talking about impeachment in 2017, socialists in Hollywood, Sarah Sanders being kicked out of a restaurant caused these people to be radicalized, not Trump.

Raskin quotes Liz Cheney calling this the "greatest betrayal by a President" to tell Republicans to **** off.

DUI Gaetz is going on about the "Biden Crime Family". Compared Pelosi ripping up the SOTU speech to the actions of the terrorists defiling the chamber.

Ended by basically saying that this wasn't about bad as anything that happened this summer.

Pretty much. None of them are making an argument against the actual charge, rather just airing grievances.

Now Matt Gaetz is just up there lying.

McCarthy slams impeachment, admits Trump is guilty of what he's being impeached for, and calls for a commission to research it and then censure him...

Calculated strategy to make his call for censure seem rational

I'm skeptical the majority of people are on Trump's side on this one. Unity, unity, unity.

I wonder if they realize unity is a two way street?

Like yeah it's a good message that we should unite, but that would mean that both sides have to meet in the middle, not one side giving up 90% of the work to the other.
