It takes a certain logic-free sort of defiance to have a mindset that guns are NEVER useful, so I wouldn't hold my breath on this.  I actually saw the first part and thought it was a shot at something Regan said or wrote.  Maybe that is a deliberate misquote, I don't even know.

It's mocking Biden's assertion that your rifle is of no use against a government armed with F-15's and nuclear weapons.  Basically, every single, "your rifle won't help you against tyranny" advocate is looking dumb as shit right now.

I just try to stay consistent and consider a gun a tool regardless of how it is used.  It's another one of those things that is subject to our hyper political society wherein some people feel compelled to love them and declare them essential to life itself and some feel compelled to hate them and declare them useless and unnecessary.

You raise an excellent point.  You didn't see a huge surge in left leaning gun ownership under Trump because they didn't really believe that he was an autocrat in waiting.  How do I know this?  Because the minute the George Floyd BLM riots started happening and law enforcement's response was hamstrung you saw those people buy firearms in record numbers.

That's why I think gun ownership is too heavily ingrained in bi-partisan political identity.  My wife's family are a bunch of rural conservatives and if I told them I bought an AR-15 because I'm concerned about the government coming for me, they'd give me a thumbs up and say how reasonable I was being.  If I added that I was buying it because I was concerned Trump was getting reelected and that was why the government was coming for me, they'd likely tell me I was being ridiculous and paranoid.

Anyywas, I'm derailing things here.  I'm just mad no one commented on my old PSA where Popeye talked about vaccines.
