Side note: I heard yesterday that there is a documentary about Putin out (Netflix?) that essentially says he was a weak minded guy that the old guard moved along to do their will as their "face" to the people. Basically a loyal clerk they were able to use. Anyone else heard of it? I didn't catch the title and I am still trying to track it down.

There certainly is something that screams "repressed *****-eroticism" about certain aspects of ultra conservatism. Being in love with handsome Hollywood cowboys like Reagan, being protected from the bad guys by Eisenhower or Daddy GW Bush, swooning over the tough bad boy attitude and swagger of Trump and Putin, waving your big ol' guns and stuffing yourself with meat, etc.

Add that to the way men kiss and hold hands and have sex with each other "but it doesn't count" in the Middle East and you just have one gay ol' time with conservatism! I guess you don't need gay marriage when you just exercise a little bit of homosexuality in so many other aspects of life. Just spread it thin and call it manliness...er, not that there is anything sexy about manliness. Yuh oh!

Now Nately I will be clear I think trump is a progressive as well. But he seems more of a nationalistic progressive. At least in the immigration front which would be a change from the typical progressive (establishment) GOP

Well that's because we have loads of progressives In politics masquerading as conservatives.    Just as we have loads of progressives pretending to be classic liberals.  

progressives are different from communists or socialists because they were not In favor of an aggressive overthrow of the government .  They just were content to slowly transform the govenment to socialism.    

I don't mind their being progressives .  I do mind that they have co-opted terms like liberal and conservative to forward their cause.    Average Americans do not know this because it's the dirty little secret rarely discussed  openly until recently which has started the civil war within the GOP.    Which is why Cruz is so high and Bush isn't .
