Finally! I feel bad they rode the kid all year and are just now releasing him, but that’s the business. You perform or you are eventually replaced. From my perspective, can Brett Kennedy be any worse? I think we’re going to find out. Glad Greene is coming back, but I hope they’re wise enough not to “throw him to the wolves” upon his return. It’ll be real interesting to see how they handle his workload and who will get called up and sent down to make spot starts / brief stints (if they go that route).

Blows my mind it didn't happen 2 months ago. I wish him luck. Perhaps he can find work as a middle reliver for an inning or two?

Reds win
Hunter Greene scheduled for Sunday
Luke Weaver removed from the rotation
5 stolen bases
Elly walked (technically. According to MLB Gameday, two of those balls were clearly strikes but a walk is a walk)
Friedl and McLain had great games. Solid games from Votto and Fairchild as well.
Marlins lost
Cubs trending towards a loss (down 3 in the 8th)

It's been a good day.

And the White Sox just choked it away. Cubs got 1 in the 8th and a walk off 3 run homer in the 9th.

Anyone know who’s pitching Friday night? We’re supposed to be going to the game.

Edit: Nvm. Lance McAlister just said it should be Brett Kennedy. Yuck.

Reds are above .500 and are only 2 games out of 1st Place still in August, with Reds injured players coming back, such as Hunter Greene probably pitching for Reds this weekend.

1st Place Brewers have to play Dodgers today and at Texas Rangers this weekend who are good. So Brewers could take some losses from time I post this on Thursday to start of Monday.

So The Reds are in a position to make a late August and month of September Play-Off run. 1st Place in NL Central could be won by Reds, and Reds very much in Wild Card race also

Brewers 2 game lead could take a hit by Dodgers and Rangers and Reds starting pitching gets a lot better with Hunter Greene maybe pitching Sunday.

Only 2 games out with a month and a half of baseball still to be played. Don't walk out on Reds yet, that is like walking out of a football game before the 4th quarter starts. A lot can happen in the 4th quarter and often the best part of the game. Reds are getting key injured players back, and this could get good. It would be like walking out on The Kentucky Derby and the horses haven't even made their turn to go down the long stretch to the finish line. They don't hand out prize money to the horse in the lead before they come down the final stretch. Brewers could lose their 2 game lead, it is only 2 games. I've seen teams lose bigger leads than 2 games in baseball. I think in 1964 there was a team up by 10 games in August that fell backwards and other teams passed. The Brewers haven't won anything yet. Dodgers and Rangers could clobber Brewers next 4 days.

I don't have a big problem with how they've played the last few weeks. After Elly came on, they went on a tear and i think they're capable of that type of play. Right now is just the inevitible lull along the roller coaster that is a MLB season.

I'm still holding out that they can start to catch fire at the right time and make a run this year.
