President Donald Trump on Friday removed a watchdog critical of personnel moves in the State Department.

Trump informed Congress of the move in a letter to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-California, in which he gave no specific reason for firing State Department Inspector General Steve Linick.

Trump wrote he “no longer” had full confidence in the State Department's inspector general.

“As is the case with regard to other positions where I, as President, have the power of appointment, by and with the advice and consent of the Senate, it is vital that I have the fullest confidence in the appointees serving as Inspectors General. That is no longer the case with regard to this Inspector General," the letter said.

House Foreign Affairs Chairman Eliot L. Engel, D-New York, said in a statement Friday that he learned Linick "had opened an investigation into Secretary [Mike] Pompeo."

A Democrat aide told NBC news the inspector general "was looking into the Secretary's misuse of a political appointee at the Department to perform personal tasks for himself and Mrs. Pompeo."

Pompeo is married to Susan Pompeo, who's been known to travel with the Secretary of State and was listed as "Special Assistant to the Secretary of State" at a security conference in Germany earlier this year.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi described the removal of Linick as a wee-hours firing by Trump that appears to be retaliation for Linick's critical eye within the department.

"The President’s late-night, weekend firing of the State Department Inspector General has accelerated his dangerous pattern of retaliation against the patriotic public servants charged with conducting oversight on behalf of the American people," Pelosi said in a statement.

Linick, an Obama administration appointee, will be replaced by Stephen Akard, a former career foreign service officer with close ties to Vice President

Democrats and some RINOs may see a pattern here of punishing watchdogs tasked with ferreting out and preventing corruption and abuse of power, but most will see through the "fake news" as another failed partisan attempt to make Trump look bad by reporting what he actually does. The kind of deep state presidential harassment FROM WITHIN the administration which Linick represents has been going on from day one.

The Americans who voted Trump into office gave him the power to appoint his own officials, and to set the priorities, standards and tone of his own administration

Fact is, a president must be able to have confidence in people working under him in the executive--people who share his goals and priorities--or he cannot get the job done for the American people.

Watchdogs who shared Trump's goals and priorities would not be constantly responding to so-called "red flags," so it is perfectly understandable that this Linick guy no longer has his confidence.  Good riddance Linick.  Maybe Fauci will be next, so the adminstration can prevent a united front on COV-19 policy as well.

Frankly, Dino, you are becoming ever more transparent.

With all the new emerging details about Obamagate, who on this message board is surprised that Dino would try and distract us with fake news?

Another true patriot no longer serving the American people thanks to the conman. Stripping us and the world of a lot of people who helped protect us from a pandemic proved to be a massive liability for us Americans.

The lasting effects of gutting our government ranks of decent people and stuffing the court system with shitheads will have equally terrible results.

The American people have been and will continue to pay dearly for a long time for letting this moron in the white house

So how many IGs has he fired for doing their job?

And not a peep from Mitch McConnell about executive overreach?

Quite possibly.

I can think of a couple of posters whose signature move was to launch into a thread laughing at everyone elses' stupidity and heaping verbal abuse on any and all who demonstrated their misreadings or logical solecisms, or simply represented an alternative view.

Finally, the message board became "so bad" they left in disgust. Until the mods relax their rules against personal attack, looks like this board will remain a haven for Liberal "groupthink" where people are restricted to making their political arguments with logic and evidence, and the occasional parody.

Now hardly anyone defends Trump when you, Dino, post his abusive tweets or report his removal of whistleblowers. That means most remain unaware of the rapid developments in Obamagate as new details emerge almost daily. If this trend continues, and people are restricted to criticizing arguments rather than persons, others could leave as well. When Obama and Biden and Hillary are finally indicted--which could be in the next month--no one will remain to post all those links!

Once is an accident.

Twice is a coincidence.

Three times is a pattern.

And the link doesn't include the Pentagon IG.

To be fair... He once fired Meatloaf for his lack of leadership, and Gene Simmons for daring to think that his cadence of Kodak's slogan was better than the Donald's. The man is demanding on his underlings.
I'm gonna break every record they've got. I'm tellin' you right now. I don't know how I'm gonna do it, but it's goin' to get done.

That is why he is such a good president.

These whistleblowers have been doing a lousy job, as Trump is openly corrupt and they still can't seem to get anyone to pay attention and subpoena the necessary documents.

Trump only wants the best people, so he has understandably decided to fire these losers and replace them with people who will get the job done!

This will send another strong signal to all in the executive, especially potential whistleblowers--YOU WILL BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE if you don't end your partisan deep state witch hunt against the president.

No doubt, partisan liberals who looked the other way when Obama abused his presidential power will spin this in another direction--like Trump is PROTECTING corruption when he fires FBI directors, ambassadors, and whistelblowers who red flag his behavior.

As stated, you are a chief culptit, of course. Never mind Obamagate, that you don't know about that is the fake news media's fault that you consume and worship. But also, you too were not willing to call Biden Cadet Assmar, right? You're not worthy of time then. Because Biden clearly is Cadet Assmar, it's just like Trump's bone spurs, and that example clearly shows that Biden is just as good or bad as Trump is. And you all failing to recognize that sure drives good people away. How can one discuss with people who do not acknowledge their bias.

And if Trump is reelected, that is also your fault for not being honest on that cadet assmar front. Of course you force people to go with Trump with that behaviour. When Trump wins a second term, all harm done will be on you therefore.

Guys guys.... let’s be honest here. Everybody knows mental gymnastics are down right exhausting. Pretty obvious some of the team is just flat out wore out from doing them so much and taking a much needed break.

And tin foil hats wrapped around the cranium too tight can sideline even the best of em.

It's kind of a stretch to call it "mental gymnastics".  There are basically 4 go-to responses that people defending the current walking abortion in the White House use.  One is asserting the "fake news" defense.  Two is the TDS reply, shifting blame for anything to the imagination of the person leveling the assertion.  Three is flat-out not giving a shit because they want this kind of behavior from an executive.  4 is the inevitable "yeah, well how many abortions have there been since (given gripe about prez).  Abobos are a reflexive response, because they're the only semi-moralistic position that the party even pretends to take anymore. It's interchangeable with ANTIFA in some scenarios, like defending pro-Trump white nationalists, Neo nazis and self-proclaimed actual facists.

The thing is, these types of investigations are common. It's what those people are there for. The majority don't result in anything. Whether there was anything inappropriate or not by selling arms to a country where most of the 9-11 hijackers came from, this makes it look like there was.

Sort caught on the radio that Trump claims to "not know" the guy who was fired and "no know" anything about it.  (Surprise.)  Also he was the State Department and Pompeo to take the blame.  Pompeo claims to not have known he was being investigated.  And Trump said it was okay for Pompeo to have his staff wash dishes because...(checks notes)...maybe his wife wasn't around.
