Over our interests and position in the south China sea.

China is now spending on military 10% higher than their GDP. So they are stepping up their military to be heavy players on the world stage. Their partnership with Russia is also making more sense now as well .

Typical.....we fund them through the WTO in order to appease the elite shareholder campaign contributors, only to have something like this happen. Yeah, free trade is such a "wonderful" policy..... Rolleyes

I didn't even catch that mathematical improbability.

This is my thought on pretty much any potential military conflict between any two superpowers. Until some crazy person decides they want to end the world, powerful countries will continue to use smaller "less important" countries to fight wars and protect their interests.

While the incompetence of political leaders certainly is undeniable, even they don't want to end the world.....I think.

LOL... China's GDP is 9.4 Trillion.

They budgeted 141 billion this year

That's roughly 1.5% of their GDP

What the article indicates is that China increased their spending this year by 10% over last year.

It should also be noted that their spending is still only 22% of our spending.

China has too much invested in the U S to want a war with us. It would be like someone buying tons of stock in General Motors and then trying to destroy their factories.

One would think......however, ya just never know. After all, look at how a lot of these companies have outsourced the jobs of their number one consumers. If your customer base eventually runs out of money or ceases to exist (middle class), how the hell are you gonna profit? Hasn't stopped them from doing it yet though......

With them now wanting to play with the big boys they will have to spend quite a bit to get their forces up to snuff. Not to mention the land grabs they are taking in the south China sea. And building military bases on them.

Their economy will take more of a hit now having to pay for the military. They keep increasing. Double digit increases each year will change things quick.

Not to mention this ridiculous trade bill obama and the progressives want....

There is not a country in the world that would last longer than 2 weeks in a conventional Air-Sea-Ground war against the US. The Iraqi Republican Guard tried in Bush War I; they lasted about 15 minutes.

If China, Russia, and North Korea all teamed up; it might take a month.
