Great minds think alike...but fools seldom differ.. 
Everyone leaves out the second part because it's a jab at fools. Great minds are always quite independent thinkers with unique ideas. 
The original saying was in French.. 
Sheep and fish and birds think alike..insects as well. 
Next time someone tells you that great minds think alike remind them the part, "..but fools seldom differ."
