What Weekend Should I Go To Vegas?
#1
Trying to go out to Vegas with a friend in football season so we can sit in a Sportsbook all day and gamble, which he's a HUGE gambler, so it should be fun.

Looking for a weekend with a lot of good NFL games and some good college ones, too, if it's possible.

We'll play some table games, too, but looking to spend the majority of the weekend (and maybe Monday night, too) on football, so I'm looking for a weekend with interesting games to bet.

I'll be at all Bengals home games (hopefully) , so it would need to be during an away week.

For the NFL, I'm thinking that maybe week 8 would be a good time to go because the Bengals play in Pittsburgh at 1 (hell of a game to bet on in Vegas, but then it's also great around here with die-hard Bengals fans), the Seahawks play in Dallas at 4:15, and then Green Bay plays in Denver at 8:30, so that would be at least three games going on most of the day that would be awesome to watch and bet on.

The Monday Night Football Game, if I stayed that long, is the Colts at the Panthers, which could be a good game to watch.

Other notable games are the Niners at the Rams, Chargers at the Ravens, Giants at Saints, and even the Vikings at Rams should be a good game, but I'll be so into the Bengals-Steelers game that I probably won't be paying too much attention to the other games.

As far as college games go, Ohio State has the weekend off, which is a bummer, but Rutgers plays at Wisconsin, Ole Miss plays at Auburn (should be a hell of a game), Tennessee at Kentucky, Florida verse Georgia, and a few other good ones, but I'm sure we could even spend Saturday on table games.

Does that weekend look best? Anybody have any other weekends of games that look good?

If you can't pick 1, pick them all.

I'd love to, but I need to be here to do my public "speaking" deal, plus I'm not that kind of high roller money-wise, not to mention that I'm sure I'd find a way to die out there.

There always seems to be plenty of good games. So I would pick a weekend based on the weather. Go sometime in December when it is freezing in Ohio.

Definitely the best college weekend, but that is also Thanksgiving weekend.

I thought about that, but the Bengals are home against the Rams that Sunday, so I'd miss going to the game, which might not be a HUGE deal, but there's only 8 regular season home games a year, although it is the Rams, who will likely be garbage.  It would be good to see Chris Long play, but, thinking it over more, I think you're right.

ThumbsUp

It would also be pretty sick to see the Steelers play in Seattle at 4:15 and then the Patriots in Denver for Sunday Night Football........  this idea is growing on me  Rock On

The Cardinals at Niners might have been a good game if I hadn't forgotten how bad the Niners are going to blow this season.

The Ravens at the Browns on Monday Night Football will be a joke, but it would be hilarious if the Browns could pull something off  ThumbsUp

GREAT CALL!

(I won't be there then, but I do appreciate the offer!   Rock On )

Not going week by week matchups, but I would say the earlier the better.  The lines are often WAY off, especially in college football.  I always liked to go with huge underdogs that retained a good number of starters from the previous season....even on the road.  As far as early NFL matchups go, the division games are often much closer than Vegas thinks they will be...say a game like Vikes and Packers:  Pack is clearly better, but Minnesota might have stayed fairly healthy through camp and early in the year so their lack of depth hasn't been exposed.  Pack might be an 8 point fav and it could be a FG game.

Lots of this. While everyone else I know vacations in the summer, I don't really see the point. I try to plan any warm weather trip when it's usually freezing temps up here. November - March is vacation season for me, and a lot of places have better pricing during those months too which is always a good thing.

If you're betting on football, ANY game becomes a good game.

Did you bet on the 58 point favorite FSU versus Southeastern Minnesota State Catholic School for the Blind? If you have money on that game, you better believe you're going to be biting your nails for them to cover that spread.

The best way to make "bad" football games enjoyable is to bet on them. I'd actually do the opposite of what you're planning, Brad. Think about it, Bengals/Steelers, Cowboys/Seahawks, OSU/Michigan, and all of those games mentioned in this thread are already going to be awesome games to watch in Vegas. Why not bet on the teams that you'd normally not have much interest in? That way, you get to watch any game that's on and it will be exciting.

Glad this thread is in Jungle Noise.

Maybe Hobson will address this in his next mailbag edition.

Good thinking but I'm not really looking to go out to make a lot of money or anything......  I just want to have a good time.

Plus, I'll have a lot of my presentations earlier in the year, so that could make it more difficult, not to mention that I'll want to go when the weather here is bad.

Yeah.............  I just went to Vegas and, as it got closer and closer, I realized how stupid I was for doing it in the summer when the weather is great, which is why I want to go again during football season  ThumbsUp (brain injured people don't always think things through  Confused )

As far as the whole betting on 58 point favorites and teams I don't have much interest in, I just can't get into those games and they're not fun to watch because it's not pure football to me, which is still from my love of playing and watching football from before the wreck where I just love football coming out.

Nah.............  notice how his first post was serious until he realized he hadn't made a controversial comment and one to make his name stand out?  It's because he's a troll with no credibility, but it's cute to watch  ThumbsUp
He's not even worth the energy, but I will say that I did include the Bengals in my reasonings for wanting to pick weeks and they'd be the games that I'd most like to bet on, making it relevant to Jungle Noise, so even his trolling attempt fails  ThumbsUp

Ah, okay. Figured I'd throw it out there because for me, money riding on a game can make a "bad" game very interesting. I guess that wouldn't apply to everybody though, but honestly, no matter when you go or which games you bet on, you're going to have a great time.

Nothing like gambling on sports in LV.

Appreciate the suggestion, but it's just not my cup of tea  ThumbsUp

Like you said, though, it's tough to not have a good time betting in Vegas.

So it is the place when you want to take shots, but not the place when I just call you out on your constant garbage that you can't back up, like always?

Noted.

Please explain how that post was incorrect in any way.
