While that is probably true he was twenty years old than my wife's sister and we strongly suggested she not marry him in the first place.  Then she had an affair and ended it.

Ouch, sorry to learn that part.  Growing up, my father was the classic racist.  It took me into adulthood to form my own opinions of people different than myself, and embrace all people as my "brothers".  I was able to overcome, some folks just have no hope.
