I suppose pointing out taking your eye off a 4-yr old for a few seconds isn't the same as taking your eye off a 13-yr old most of their life.

One is an accident, one is a true failure of parenting. See the difference?

People who lock up their guns are just making themselves easier targets for all those badguys that are going to come in and shoot you, and thus necessitate owning guns in the first place.

Accidents happen all the time in parenting.  The vast majority of the time they don't end in potentially mortL situations. But yes. I do see the difference.  It's about 10 years and the elder in the situation involuntarily have a better grasp on the consequences of their volition.

How long do you think it took that toddler to get in there?  1 second?  30 seconds?  Would other parents have gotten in there to protect their child?

At what age are we no longer responsible for our child's actions?

THIS IS THE BEST MAXINE EVER, EVER, EVER!

I bought a bird feeder. I hung it
on my back porch and filled it
with seed. What a beauty of
a bird feeder it was, as I filled it
lovingly with seed.
Within a week we had hundreds of birds
taking advantage of the
continuous flow of free and
easily accessible food.

But then the birds started
building nests in the boards
of the patio, above the table,
and next to the barbecue.

Then came the shit. It was
everywhere: on the patio tile,
the chairs, the table ...
everywhere!

Then some of the birds
turned mean. They would
dive bomb me and try to
peck me even though I had
fed them out of my own
pocket.

And others birds were
boisterous and loud. They
sat on the feeder and
squawked and screamed at
all hours of the day and night
and demanded that I fill it
when it got low on food.

After a while, I couldn't even
sit on my own back porch
anymore. So I took down the
bird feeder and in three days
the birds were gone. I cleaned
up their mess and took down
the many nests they had built
all over the patio.

Soon, the back yard was like
it used to be ..... quiet, serene....
and no one demanding their
rights to a free meal.

Now let's see......
Our government gives out
free food, subsidized housing,
free medical care and free
education, and allows anyone
born here to be an automatic
citizen.

Then the illegals came by the
tens of thousands. Suddenly
our taxes went up to pay for
free services; small apartments
are housing 5 families; you
have to wait 6 hours to be seen
by an emergency room doctor;
Your child's second grade class is
behind other schools because
over half the class doesn't speak
English.

Corn Flakes now come in a
bilingual box; I have to
'press one ' to hear my bank
talk to me in English, and
people waving flags other
than ”ours” are
squawking and screaming
in the streets, demanding
more rights and free liberties.

Just my opinion, but maybe
it's time for the government
to take down the bird feeder.
If you agree, pass it on; if not,
just continue cleaning up the shit!

I'd say it depends on the action and the parents involvement or non-involvement.  In the case of a toddler doing damage to public property, inadvertent on the part of said toddler or not, someone needs to be held responsible.

I always found this part to be the most interesting.  I see/hear people complain about their bank offering bilingual services, or people complaining about those in front of them using welfare cards to buy stuff and my first response is to tell that person IF you don't like that business practice take your business elsewhere.

If your bank offers multi-lingual options and you don't like it, take your money to a bank that doesn't.  If you are sick of people using handout cards at Wal Mart, tell Wal Mart they won't get YOUR hard-earned money until they stop accepting everyone's hand-out money.  Don't buy cereal boxes that have multi-lingual information on them.

People need to make the personal sacrifice to vote with their dollar rather than whine to the government to regulate business or magically make the United States stop accepting immigrants right after your stupid, smelly, foreign language-speaking family washed up on our hallowed shores.

Anyways, I realize this is the memes and jokes and not discussion thread but I just love/hate it when people complain about this complete non-issue and then do nothing about it. If a business takes money from the types of people YOU think are ruining YOUR country, stop giving those businesses YOUR money.

That would require inconveniencing themselves rather than someone else.

And that pretty much sums up everything.
