Sadly it means another year of inability to run inside and constant pressure up the m idle because of our cut rate Center.

Nick Martin still there though

Can't really be mad considering the reality of our secondary corps.

But they've gotta hope that they find a steal of a WR tomorrow or Saturday. We need someone who can contribute right away.

Although, does this suggest faith in the development of Wright and Alford?

Because the draft is over after 1 pick?

CLH was on the field for our collapse in the playoffs lsst year. Burfict probably knew he was the one on AB andd paid special attention to him

True, but Martin has a rap about holding the point against stronger DTs.

LMAO. PFF's eval of our pick versus the Steelers' pick

Quote:24. Cincinnati Bengals: William Jackson III | Grade: A
An excellent pick by the Bengals, we may be talking about William Jackson as the best pure cornerback in the draft a few years from now. He’s intriguing because his +17.3 coverage grade ranked second in the nation, but he still has room to improve his technique both in press coverage and in zone. Throw in his 6-foot frame, sub-4.4 speed and excellent movement skills and Jackson has all of the tools to improve on his already-impressive production. Jackson flashes the downfield ball skills to become a playmaker in both a man or zone scheme and the Bengals may have gotten one of the steals of the draft.

25. Pittsburgh Steelers: Artie Burns | Grade: D
In a mismatch of skillsets and scheme, the Steelers take Burns with the hope that they can develop his 6-foot plus frame into a dependable player. The problem here, much like the Apple pick to the Giants, is that the Steelers played more zone coverage than any team in the league last year and that’s where Burns has his struggles. His +2.8 coverage grade ranked 42nd in the draft class, and though he does show skills as a man coverage cornerback, but his overall game remains raw. If Pittsburgh plans on altering their scheme to play more man coverage, this pick makes more sense, but at this point, it’s an example of a cornerback’s size and speed moving him up a draft board at the expense of his on-field play.

Hargreaves went 11 and he cant even run with the fast WRs in the league

RE: ***OFFICIAL NFL DRAFT DAY THREAD*** - NKYRob - 04-29-2016

I was at the draft party at Paul Brown and Paul Guenther came up to address the fans about the pick. A fan asked something to the tune of whether or not Pittsburgh picking after us had any influence on the pick. His response: "we don't care about Pittsburgh". Haha I love it!

Just wanted to point out the Steelers new CB is named Burns. Not only does he get burned. It is multiple times.

We might be able to get someone like Glasgow in 3rd or 4th. I think that he was a pretty good center honestly, and he can play guard too.

I'd say the only thing it suggests is that there wasn't a WR worth the pick.

RE: ***OFFICIAL NFL DRAFT DAY THREAD*** - Luvnit2 - 04-29-2016

The Redskins pick was the huge surprise to me. That took the top 4 WR's and 1st round worthy off the board at #24. The Bengals dilemma had to be the player #1 on their board Jackson (who many had as best CB in this draft) or Miles Jack.

I would have liked either one, but for financial reasons a CB fits how we try and manage the cap. CB's second contracts are very expensive so you get 5 years from a 1st round CB (5th year team option).

Looking ahead to round number 2, my guess we go WR if our guys is there, but would not be surprised to see us go DE/DT in second round and WR in the 3rd.

RE: ***OFFICIAL NFL DRAFT DAY THREAD*** - bengals67 - 04-29-2016

Great pick by Bengals. He was the best player on their board and honestly we are thin at CB which is a problem when you have to play the steelers twice.

This kid has the potential to be the best CB in the draft plus it really threw off the Steelers who reach big time for their first round pick. I love that.

I think most pressing need now is DE or center. They are invested in Bodine so I could see them going DE in round 2.
It would be worth next year's three to move up for the kid from Oklahoma State.

Good DTs  and Wrs will be there in three or four.

I would take a flyer on Jack or Smith after round 4.  Not before then.

I wouldn't of called us THIN at CB but this is an excellent pick for depth and because Kirkpatrick was not good
last season and Dennard has been injured. With Will Jackson III in the fold we now have great depth in a passing
league and it doesn't break the bank. Robbing the Steelers is icing on the cake.

Burns will be burnt.

I love Ogbah but i don't know if we should trade up to get him. We need our picks for WR and DT still.
