When the Browns win the Superbowl then you can convince me that the "buying all-in" tactic works consistently. Until then I know the Steelers and Patriots are the two franchises with the most super bowl wins and their philosophy is draft & develop.

While having a low dead cap is good, it could also mean you're holding onto players too long.

It's obvious too that certain teams understand there are championship windows and are ok with throwing a lot of guarantees and big contracts to win in that window, even if it means having some down years following.
If it results in a Super Bowl win (like the Rams), it was worth it, IMO.
I  just don't see them holding on to aging players anymore. At least in the last few years. We just let our 2 safeties go and they weren't exactly over the hill.
