It's fair to state Trump added to the shit show, but let's not pretend he flew solo on the flight.
Trump is solo because he's a Twitter blowhard celebrity president. He's the president. He's not just some loudmouth run of the mill celebrity any more.
Does it say a lot that we are still comparing him to Madonna or DeNiro now that he's holding the same job as Roosevelt, Lincoln, Reagan and so on?
But hey some has been never was comedienne acted crazy so let's brush off the sitting president running on a reelection platform of Biden killing God.
He's just a wacky celebrity, after all.

Yes, you are right. Except I would say Trump is louder and fuller of crap than most celebrities, some of whom are actually stable and reasonable people.
But to repeat Your point--Madonna is not president, nor is Gary Bussey nor Charlie Sheen nor Dennis Rodman nor Mel Gibson. Democrats have not elected a "celebrity." And I hope they don't ever "fight fire with fire."
If Democrats elected Charlie Sheen as a presidential candidate and Republicans criticized his bad judgment before he even had a chance to wreck foreign and domestic policy, I wouldn't dismiss their criticisms as all "because Charlie," or admit that some criticism was justified "but not over every little thing the way Republicans do," or marvel at all the mysterious "Charlie hate" as if that were the "real" problem and terribly revealing of some nefarious truth about unhinged Dems.

The inability to compare apples with apples is part of the reason why Trump was elected.

The question is whether one side has been primarily driving the language and the "us vs them" framing that you singled out.
And that is an empirical question which can be answered with some across-the-spectrum research into political speeches and commentary.
Well, it has been answered. I've seen the articles on the topic, dug into the research. And you are correct that this has been driven primarily by one side. One side did start it, and it is more common on one side than the other.
