The Bengals are 1-0 in prime time games this season...and this season is the only one that matters. Who Dey.

RE: Chiefs game FLEXED - Bengalfan4life27c - 10-10-2018

counting Thursday night against Texans last season we are 0-11 on NBC games since they no longer carried Sunday afternoon games in regular season 0-3 NBC playoff games. 0 - 7 on Sunday nights. 0-1 on Thursday nights.

That said, KC is one of those 20 losses, and they did it just last year.

I believe Belichick and Brady want this win in the worst way. If they lose to KC then KC will hold the tie breaker for the top seed and given that NE already has 2 losses, this game is key for NE. It won't be easy that's for sure.

On the Bengals' side, they have to beat Pittsburgh in Cinci to expect to compete for a top seed. A win this weekend will set up a big game in KC, regardless of what KC does in NE.

This season is the only one that matters. They've already won their 1 Primetime game quota for the season?

I checked Wiki's stats with the games each year on the Bengals website and they match exactly.

I was going by your original post about 'since '91. In '95 they beat the Steelers on thurs night 27-9. In '97 they beat the Oilers 41-14. The Niners game in '07 was a Saturday night game.

2016 was the Saturday game against the Texans, where Bullock missed a kick to win the game. It was on Christmas Eve.
And they're not including the Bengals win this season against the Ravens.
So that would be 5-7.

I see what the conflict is.

From 1991 to 1997 the Sunday night games in September and October were on TNT, the November and December games were on ESPN (Some of those games were on a Thursday even though they called them SNF)

From 1998 to 2005 all Sunday night games were on ESPN (Again some of those games were on Thursday)

From 2005 to present all Sunday night games are on NBC  (Some of those games were on Thursday and Saturday)

According to Bengals website the 2007 9ers game was on Friday??

For whatever reason when they had SNF games, some were on Thursdays and Saturdays, and when they had TNF games, since it started in 2006, some of those games were on Saturday, not sure the rhyme or reason, but they still classified them as TNF games??

Yes, I did not count 2018.

Yeah, it can be a bit confusing because before the NFLN started true Thursday night football games, the Thurs and Sat games were always like "special editions", for lack of a better term, of Sunday or Monday night games. I was just going by Pro Football Reference pages where they show the actual day and time of each game.

Confusing indeed.

Bottom line is they are well below .500 AND if they want the Lombardi, they are going to have to start winning more on the 'big stage'!

But, if we win, this will be my favorite part: You KNOW that the announcers and the media are going to be drooling all over the Chiefs. They will immediately doubt the Bengals, and probably expect a beatdown. You win these games, when everyone is doubting you? And to beat this high-powered offense?

Man, the media will be talking about us for days after that. And the team knows that, so I can't wait. Regardless of what happens against the Steelers, Bengals have to be at their best against this Chiefs team. Chew up a lot of clock, and hit Mahomes.
The Chiefs are media darlings right now, but......  The Chiefs have a terrible defense.  The Chiefs will lose in the Playoffs because of that terrible defense.

I don't think they have a terrible defense. Bad yes, but they also have the 2nd best 3rd down percentage in the league. And when you win 3rd downs, especially with their offense, you are usually going to win.

I respect and appreciate the positivity, but they've earned that prime-time narrative under Marv, and it's going to take more than one game to break it. We need to see strong football in all prime-time games, and they need to bury this playoff drought once and for all. I'm sick of the topic, and hopefully so are they.

I hate forcing a narrative on a team that had nothing to do with win lose records in previous seasons with Carson in 2006, Fitzpatrick in 2008, and even 2017. The NFL changes every season previous records mean absolutely nothing.

The 2018 Bengals have played tough and have fought through adversity and I am excited for Sunday. I will be in the visitors section of PBS in my Ken Riley jersey like I have been since 2011.

Who Dey.

RE: Chiefs game FLEXED - fredtoast - 10-11-2018

Anyone who thinks we would win the game at 1:00 but lose at 8:00 doesn't know a lot about football.
