The "Death of Free Speech" - TheLeonardLeap - 06-12-2017 Call me when it gets anywhere close to this: https://www.nytimes.com/2017/06/12/world/asia/pakistan-blasphemy-sentence.html?_r=0 Quote:ISLAMABAD, Pakistan — An antiterrorism court in Pakistan has sentenced a Shiite man to death for committing blasphemy in posts on social media. The man, Taimoor Raza, 30, was found guilty of making derogatory remarks about the Prophet Muhammad, his wives and others on Facebook and WhatsApp. Trump is a spray-painted turd, but people like to pretend he's some dictator destroying the first amendment. If anything, that Pakistan story kind of reminds me of things that aren't happening in DC, but more out West... "Allegations of an offense can lead to violence and killings by vigilante mobs." "In April, a university student in northern Pakistan was tortured and shot to death by fellow students. The student, Mashal Khan, who attended Abdul Wali Khan University, was accused of posting blasphemous content on Facebook." Also, islam is a victim of western imperialism. They would never execute this guy is we hadn't invaded Afghanistan. It makes total sense for Trump to exlude this country full of "terrific people" from his travel ban list. Rule #1 after all is..Cant hurt Trumps finances. They only hid bin laden and pump out thousands of radicalized shit heads from their madrasas. None of that matters in the big picture though. As long as they are friendly to my prez's personal fortune. RE: The "Death of Free Speech" - Sociopathicsteelerfan - 06-12-2017 (06-12-2017, 06:38 PM)NATI BENGALS Wrote: When you really look at it. C'mon dude, the US has been cozy with Saudi Arabia since the 70's. We're talking numerous administrations from both parties. It's hardly the case that Trump has done some incredibly about face on Saudi Arabia that he should be criticized for. If you think his business is Trump's motivator, what was Obama and Clinton's motivation? This was about them executing someone for facebook. Saudi arabia is just a continued foreign policy failure. Pakistan is sticky as well, you can't denounce them or you have no assistance in dealing with Afghani rebels who reside in the more tribal areas of Pakistan. Believe me, I fervently wish the United States wasn't beholden to such considerations, but sometime you have to consider the big picture. If this weren't true we'd have nothing to do with China, one of the most oppressive and autocratic countries on this planet.
