Who you got for SCOUTUS - bfine32 - 07-09-2018

I'm sure we are all thrilled that Trump gets to nominate another Justice to SCOUTUS. So I'm asking who you got (vote in the Poll) and secondly who'd you want (be least upset about) if nominated. Also who would you least like to see.

The poll includes the 6 reportedly interviewed by Trump.

My money's on my homeboy Thapar, but I'd love to see Barrett

RE: Who you got for SCOUTUS - Benton - 07-09-2018

I thought Thapar was already off the list? The last articles I read said it's down to a final four, Kethledge, Kavanaugh, Hardiman and Barrett.

Even though he reportedly liked Kethledge and Kavanaugh the least, I expect him to go with one of them. They're both pro-business and semi-social liberal. Pretty much Kennedy The Sequel (and I think they both clerked under him). Kavanaugh is also anti-CFPB according to Market Watch, which you've got to think Trump loves.

I think Trump will nominate Barrett just because he thinks it will pander to Christians and it will make the left explode.

He is petty, very petty and it's more of a "Oh, watch this" move.

Trump nominates Rudy Giuliani; that would cause explosions.

I would love Barrett as I would love to see a conservative female on the court.

Is this going to affect me in any way?

Doubtful. This is a democracy. So naturally the person most people voted for is not president. And 4 of our Supreme court justices will be hand picked by two presidents who each only lost the popular vote once.

If you want more say go vote. Wait what?

RE: Who you got for SCOUTUS - Belsnickel - 07-09-2018

I'm voting Kethledge. I actually don't mind him, too much and he would have a better chance at confirmation than Kavanaugh.

As much as Schumer needs to gtfo i agree with his recent message.

Nominate Garland and help bring the country together.

Id prefer we dont get some super religious person. Not a big fan of "because the invisible man in the sky said so and because that is what i believe it is now your law."

So the batshit crazy looking lady who might be a part of a religious cult can screw off and hopefully she goes to a science class.

I’m going with bfine.

$20

Other: Me

I will support people doing whatever the hell they want as long as it doesn't directly negatively effect others.

Also I would happily take the $214k/yr salary and guaranteed job as long as you want it while only having to hear like 80 cases a year. Lol

More seriously, I laugh at the fear mongering over "gay marriage might be threatened!" when it is widely supported in the country. It's here, it's staying, regardless of who gets chosen.

RE: Who you got for SCOUTUS - Nebuchadnezzar - 07-09-2018

Just heard Barrett is at home in Indiana

I don't suppose she'd have enough conviction to respectfully decline being nominated by a man who has, in theory, made baby Jesus cry so many tears.

The last thing people want is someone who actually thinks America should be a free country.

I hope you are right, but I'm not sure this is the best time to argue that the country is going to get what the majority wants...just saying.

Looks like I lost out to Brett Kavanaugh.

If you want a clear illustration of the divide in America. Watch MSNBC for 5 minutes and then watch FoxNews for 5 minutes and their reactions to the nomination.

It really blows my mind how divisive each side is. They both pimp their side like their pimping their top ho to a baller Ninja I just want the facts not mother f’ing opinions damnit!!

Yeah, the SC never finds laws that have been around for years unconstitutional.

Most people support safe, legal abortions too though....so who knows. Mellow

They aren’t going to take up another case over gay marriage. It’s been ruled on very recently.

Well, they have decades.

Im just glad the guy who was banging a pornstar while his 3rd wife was pregnant gets to be such a lasting influence on the moral compass of my country. Proud moment today.

Look at the gems Trump has picked to fill out his cabinet... Flawless

Be a good American and give this the faux news trumpet rubber stamp of approval. Not a single reason we should look twice at a lifetime appointment in such a high position of power.

I disagree. I think the Senate should conduct confirmation hearings.
