The economy is shit. People blame Covid-19. The Covid-19 response is shit. People blame Donald Trump. The GOP can't win in these circumstances, so they'll try anything to win back voters.

I don't get how that's going to help 'get unemployment numbers down.'
If the good really wanted to boost the economy and win votes, they'd use this as an excuse to talk about wage reform, and tying it in to geographic economic trends. This is about the only time they can do it and not rock the boat with both their donors and base.
