I absolutely believe Covid was overblown for political purposes.

I only believe oppressive from a big box store fine, but lots of small businesses must close and possibly forever.

Sinister motives, not so much, other than overblown for political purposes.

I guess.  I don't think any amount of covid or no covid is going to do much to stop wal mart and amazon from taking over every aspect of retail.  We can throw out the mask restrictions and raise taxes on the godly rich, but the march will continue.

Remember, we aren't all that far removed from a time when less than 50% of the country being employed as farmers seemed absurd.  Stuff changes...maybe that's why people die, we'd just pine too hard for the way things was.

I think from a 30k foot perspective we are starting to witness why Democracies (Democratic Republic) only last so long.  Once you are truly divided and half start to believe their own Country is shit, it is all over.

I rather cynically said quite a ways back that covid may be this generation's Vietnam.  It's an overblown "no biggie" until we hang with it long enough that everyone eventually knows someone who was affected by it and then maybe it becomes real.

That's emotional.  The math is:  500000/350000000=.001428

Disclaimer..........I suck at math!

That's still a lot more than get killed by terrorists or Mexican caravan murderers.  People don't use math when it comes to fear.  I know this because I live in the boonies and people around here think driving drunk is no big deal but dangerous Muslims are right around every corner.

And statistics.

To wit...using your failed math:

The math for people dying in car crashes if Tiger Woods is driving is: 0/350000000 = 0! He's like the world's safest driver!

The math for people dying if a two planes crash into the Twin Towers is: 2977/350000000 = 0.000850571% Why are we worried about terrorists?!?

So tell me then, what are the odds of dying from Covid?

An overall average.

In the US 1.78%

1.9% and dropping to 1.7 over the last month as a rolling average.

Thank you.

That is based off of cases and deaths correct?  Not the fact that not everyone will get Covid or have it but never get tested because of no symptoms?

I'm not buying that every person out of 350M has a 2% chance of dying.  People would be dropping left and right around me.  That's 2 out of every 100!

That's a lot more than 500k.

I don't see any answers to my questions in there.  I get it, your poking fun at me, whatever.  Can you explain and answer my questions?

Are you saying 1.7-1.9 out of every 100 Americans are dropping dead?

No.  It is real.  A close friend of my family died from it.

You get your panties in a huge wad over a few hundred thousand abortions a year but then say half a million deaths from covid are meaningless.  Typical right-wing hypocrite.

Big deal, you act like the coastal regions of Florida aren't densely populated?

How many people live in coastal Florida?

Of the total population of 19.6 million in Florida, approximately 15 million people live in coastal portions of the state. Coastal Florida employs 5.9 million people annually, earning a total of $275.3 billion. This equates to almost $688 billion in gross domestic product.

The whole "my body" is just comical.  I just didn't realize mothers never separated from their children and they were just brainless appendages attached to the mom the rest of her life.  If you are cool with dismembering a live baby and sucking it out with a vacuum cause "my body" that's on you bro.

A close friend of your family died.  I get it.  It's sad and i'm sorry it happened.  People die every day.  I watched my mom wither away until she stopped breathing from cancer and it happened in 7 weeks.  Suck it up buttercup!  Life sucks sometimes.

It does not mean gov't has a right to destroy small businesses in the guise of safety while the big box stores magically stay open and we run around like dumbasses with masks on our faces all day pretending like we are saving the world.  And that's not including the lunatics who want you to wear a mask outside!

Bottom line...........500k out of 350M have died in 14-15 months time.  it's sad.  Get at me when that number get's in the double digit millions in half that time. That will definitely get my attention.

I would bet money that far more than 500k have been hurt, possibly for a lifetime because of the lockdowns and restrictions.  I bet millions to 10's of millions.  Child abuse up, suicides up, depression up, stress up, financial hardships up, businesses lost, etc, etc.

655k die from heart disease each year.  Let's ban "bad" food, ciggys, alcohol and have gov't mandated exercise cause safety.  I am actually surprised that the number isn't much higher than that with the enormous amount of out of shape, fat slobs we have running around this country.

And i'm not right wing just because of my opinion on one subject.  Don't put me in one of your stupid little liberal boxes.  I am not in any box nor do I vote party line anything.  They all suck.  I have beliefs that span liberal to conservative.

Didn't Michelle Obama attempt to tackle this and people suddenly had to act like garbage public school cafeteria rolls and instant mashed potatoes were ultra patriotic?

Let's go with an Apples to Apples comparison.  Most of Florida's population is densely gathered near the coast, 43% of the State of NY is in NYC.  Because when you look at population density State to State, NY ranks 7th to Florida's 8th.

There truly is no apples-to-apples comparison between Florida and New York. Climate, density, demographics, all these things muck that up.
