Biden's lack of stopping Illegal immigrants - Luvnit2 - 08-20-2023 https://www.foxnews.com/politics/biden-quietly-auctions-trump-border-wall-parts-stunt-republican-effort-restart-construction-report Biden immediately stopped construction of 250 miles of Trump border wall. Then, instead of donating it to Texas to help them secure their state border, he either sold materials for pennies on the dollar or left it to rust. Biden's and the Democrats immigration policy are killing Americans by their open border policy. Their policies will bankrupt cities if they continue to allow illegal immigrants into the US from the Mexican border. RE: Biden's lack of stopping Illegal immigrants - Luvnit2 - 08-29-2023 Biden's immigration enforcement has allowed over 6 million illegal immigrants to enter the US in 2.5 years. NYC can't handle 100,000 illegal immigrants. LA can't handle them either. Yet, all of these Democrat run cities had no issue with the millions cities in Texas, Arizona and Florida have to deal with? I feel this will impact not only National elections, but state and local elections as well. I am seeing protesting daily in NYC as illegal immigrants are camped on streets. NY citizens feel illegal immigrants are treated better than them. Can/Will Biden attempt to close the border now? Is it to late and the damage is done? Sanctuary cities crying?? Guess they wouldn't be so over run if they cooperated better and allowed people to get deported. They should have taken the hint when Trump tried to remove federal aid from them and it was over turned by an appeals court and now they crying for more aid?? Honestly, i'd be loading up Illegals at the border and putting them on busses straight to all sanctuary cities and give no additional Federal Aid.

The rose again, by a smaller percentage, under Biden...but still not to the previous levels (as of Sept, 2021). Understanding that there is more to immigration (legal and illegal) than who is in the oval office, we have not seen a huge increase in it despite cries that "the left" wants open borders. RE: Biden's lack of stopping Illegal immigrants - pally - 08-31-2023 Until Congress stops using immigration as a political talking point and finally fixes the LEGAL immigration system, there is no hope of ever stopping illegal immigration. Give people a legal avenue of realistically immigrating in a reasonable time period and the incentive to come illegally goes away. Right now from Mexico, it can take up to 20 years to be able to legally immigrate to this country and then it can take just as long to obtain citizenship or even a green card the backlog is so high RE: Biden's lack of stopping Illegal immigrants - Mike M (the other one) - 08-31-2023 (08-31-2023, 09:41 AM)GMDino Wrote: According to this site: Actually it does have an effect direct from what you posted (link): The Trump Effect. The monthly data also show evidence for a “Trump effect” on immigration — legal and illegal. Our prior analysis of other Census Bureau data shows that during his first three years in office, before Covid-19 hit, growth in the legal and illegal immigrant population slowed, reflecting a decline in new arrivals and a substantial increase in out-migration. The monthly data confirms our prior findings. In his four years in office (January 2017 to January 2021), the foreign-born population grew by 1.6 million, less than half the 3.4 million growth during Obama’s second term (January 2013 to January 2017). Of course, immigration in the last year of the Trump administration was impacted by the Covid-19 epidemic. But looking only at the first three years (January 2017 to January 2020) of Trump’s administration, before Covid, shows the immigrant population grew by one million, compared to three million in the first three years of the second Obama administration (January 2013 to January 2016). Under Biden, From July 1, 2021 to July 1 2022 it grew by 1 million. In 1 yr he just beat Trumps 3 yr number. Crossings at the S border under Biden are at record breaking highs.. 2021 he set the record, 2022 broke it, and 2023 YTD is on par to break 2022. The majority of those that want to come here simply don't qualify for that status. So they use Asylee, Refugee status to get in (or send minors unaccompanied by adults). That's a couple of the ways you can come here. The one where you are talking 20 years? that's if a LPR applies to bring a child or daughter (unmarried and over 18) to the US. If/Once they become a USC that time is shortened alot (3-4 years). So 8-9 years, so have to wait 5 (4 if married to USC) to become a USC then apply and you will be moved to the front of the line over the LPRs (Legal Perm Residents). And yes, Mexico has a very high wait time simply because they are our poverty stricken neighbor. Farm work, meat packing, entry-level service industry jobs (housekeepers, cooks, dishwashers, landscapers) They work loading docks and construction. There are very few real penalties for employers who hire illegal immirants. Fixing that is all part and parcel in fixing the entire immigration system This country is in desperate need of unskilled labor which will become scarcer as our population ages. Fixing the legal immigration system allows these unskilled laborers to become part of the legitimate work force RE: Biden's lack of stopping Illegal immigrants - Mike M (the other one) - 09-02-2023 (09-02-2023, 05:00 PM)pally Wrote: sure we want educated workers...but in many cases, those are the ones displacing Americans from jobs, especially in technology. Fixing that is all part and parcel in fixing the entire immigration system they only allow 65k h1b (20k are reserved for people with Masters or higher) so 45k annually can come here and work in High paying Skilled jobs for a max of 3 years.
For the non-skilled jobs, they can apply for H-2A and H-2B visas are for seasonal, or peak load, temporary workers in an agriculture (H-2A) or non-agricultural (H-2B) setting. Generally, these do not extend beyond a year. So you are saying that aside from the agricultural jobs, Americans don't want to work in the Construction, Food Processing/Cooks, Ground Maintenance workers, nannies, maids, sewing jobs (for those i think it's the employers want cheaper labor). Then we have to deal with documented workers wanting those same jobs as well.... so they are taking jobs from people that will fill them. RE: Biden's lack of stopping Illegal immigrants - Luvnit2 - 09-07-2023 Joe Biden stopped building the wall. He stopped sending illegal immigrants back to Mexico to await their asylum hearing, he released them into the US. In 1 year almost 1.4 million illegal immigrants entered into Texas, but no one is getting billions in Texas to house, feed, clothe, school children and provide free medical assistance. Of the almost 1.4 million since from August of 2022 to August of 2023, only 13,000 were sent to sanctuary city NYC by Abbott. Do the math how NYC has over 100K in illegal immigrants. It is very simple, the illegal immigrants flooded to NYC on their own because of all of the promises made by Democratic run cities like NYC. These cities are getting what they campaigned on, on what they said they would provide. Fast forward to present time and NYC mayor is a hypocrite trying to place blame on Trump and Republicans versus Biden policy and sanctuary city policy. They are getting what they asked for so now they need to deal with it. RE: Biden's lack of stopping Illegal immigrants - Luvnit2 - 09-09-2023 https://www.foxnews.com/media/the-view-hosts-shredded-after-saying-migrants-flooding-new-york-city-must-resettled-elsewhere This is classic viewpoint from liberals who say it is OK to not secure our border. NYC is a sanctuary city and as I showed in a previous post, contrary to the lies of Adams, very few migrants of the 110,000 estimated illegal immigrants were bussed into NYC. The majority came on their own because NYC promotes themselves as sanctuary city that will house and feed them, educate their children The article talks shows Navarro of the View saying the illegal immigrants need to be sent elsewhere. It was easy to call yourself sanctuary cities until the borders were essentially opened by Democrat's and Joe Biden. Now that they are in these sanctuary city, the liberal cities can't handle what border states like Texas and Arizona have dealt with for decades. This is not a Trump issue, he tried building a wall, in fact the material to secure the border is being sold or decaying as we speak as Biden chose to not only stop the building of additional wall, but he chose to open existing walls on the border. Congress voted to fund building the wall, but Biden just like he did in Afghanistan (left billions in military equipment) chose to leave this expensive wall material on the ground or in this case also sell it for pennies on the dollar wasting money. Democratic leaders need to get Biden to fix the open border policies or else this issue just gets worse. Now we have the Northern border also being exposed. There is a path to legal immigration, Biden has thrown that out the window by allowing an estimated 6 to 8 million illegal immigrants into the US since he took office. Mark my words, this and the economy will be major voting issues in 2024. Americans will hold not only Biden, but the entire Democratic party accountable for this immigration mess. RE: Biden's lack of stopping Illegal immigrants - Luvnit2 - 09-09-2023 More on Biden's immigrant policy https://www.foxnews.com/media/border-union-pres-calls-bidens-stay-texas-plan-contradictory-hate-catch-release-its-his-law Border union pres calls Biden's stay-in-Texas plan contradictory: 'I hate' catch-release, but it's his law "We just don't know what's up from down anymore," said Brandon Judd, president of the National Border Patrol Council. "You hear this administration's claiming that Abbott's buoys are against the law, yet he turns right back around in the very next breath and he says he's going to force people to stay in Texas." On "Your World," Judd suggested Biden's reported plan to prevent migrants from leaving border states flies in the face of his own catch-and-release policies that allow for illegal immigrant dispersion throughout the nation's interior on the individuals' own volition. "Once they are released, they have the right to travel throughout the United States," Judd said. "As much as I hate this, as much as I hate the catch-and-release, I also recognize what the laws are." Who are these people that take up to 20 years? I have MANY friends in L.A. who got their citizenship in their mid twenties, and they weren’t fighting for it when they were 5 years old. We also have birthright citizenship. Half the countries in Europe, a “more progressive” part of the world, including the Uber progressive Scandinavian countries, don’t have that. They also don’t allow refugees indefinite stays. The difficulty to immigrate here is overblown. And here’s the kicker… no one is entitled citizenship to another country. Sorry, life isn’t fair. I tried to get my citizenship in Denmark when I played in a Danish band, who had a lot of pull since they were the biggest act in the country at the time. I failed. Their producers, on the other hand, got citizenship in the US in a couple years. Illegal immigration is inevitable, but it is not impossible to cut down on drastically. As I have said, the open border Biden policies allowing over 6 million illegal immigrants that are registered since he took office, plus 1.5 million who skirted security at the border and are freely roaming the US, no vetting, no vaccinations, no idea if terrorists and more to come. The border will be a major voting issue in 2023, Democrats, Republicans and Independents alike hate the illegal immigrant policy of open borders. Bad week for Joe Biden and his party. Agreed with the first part of your first sentence, but the legal immigration difficulty is vastly overblown. No one is entitled to citizenship in another country. We have “sanctuary cities” and house refugees, while most places elsewhere put a time limit on them. I’ve got plenty of Israeli, German, Spanish and Mexican friends back in Los Angeles who got their citizenship within a few years. I tried to get Danish and Swedish citizenship for 4 years because I played in a prominent Scandinavian band and worked in Denmark and Sweden about 6 months a year for 4 years. I failed. 7 of the Danish producers and songwriters, on the other hand, moved to L.A. and got their citizenship within a few years. RE: Biden's lack of stopping Illegal immigrants - pally - 09-17-2023 1). No one in the left promotes or desires open borders. What they have talked about is treating migrants with dignity and respect instead of hate. Stop with talking about them like they are all serial killers. Understand that the vast majority simply want the chance at a better life at their families. the border being “open” is a narrative Republicans and right wing media made up. If we had an open border why would we employ ICE and CBP people? Why would there be lines at passport controls? There are nearly 2 million encounters with migrants each year at the border. 2/3rds of the border encounters result in immediate expulsion. The whole open borders narrative gets promoted in the home countries setting the stage for migration. But hey, as much as they “complain” about open borders, Republicans would far rather undercut a Democrat’s presidency than actually do something about solving the problem. The Republican controlled House had done nothing concerning immigration. 2) migrants head for large cities, sanctuary or otherwise. Cities have jobs. Cities have existing immigrant populations. You can get “lost” in a large city whereas a newcomer stands out in rural or less populated areas. There is safety in the anonymity of a large city. 3) the illegal immigration issue will never get solved until we fix our broken legal immigration system which is still designed with more favorable policies towards European immigrants instead of regional. |
