Predict our "washed up DE" free agent signing this year - fredtoast - 05-05-2016

In the past we have tried Aaron Maybin, Derrick Harvey. and Jamaal Anderson.

So who is next?

And I am not just doing this as a joke,  I think we are thin at DE now that Gilberry is one.  Hunt and Clarke have not shown much, and Hardison needs to be concentrating full time on DT.  He would be out of position as a 4-3 DE.  Inly way i want to see him at DE is if we are running a 3 front scheme instead of a 4.

Chris Clemons? IDK I just looked up the oldest DE that just got cut haha.

RE: Predict our "washed up DE" free agent signing this year - ochocincos - 05-05-2016

Not "old" but cut due to not living up to their draft expectations, but Bjoern Werner, Damontre Moore.

RE: Predict our "washed up DE" free agent signing this year - Storer50 - 05-05-2016

I wouldn't mind trying Werner. Colts wanted him as an OLB in 3-4 but he translates better as de in 4-3.

Freeney pls

RE: Predict our "washed up DE" free agent signing this year - NATI BENGALS - 05-05-2016

There was once a really good player who had a bad reputation. He couldnt stick on his first team. And tried to turn his career around with the Cowboys. No luck there. He was given one more shot, this time with the Bengals. And he turned into a productive player.

Hoping history repeats itself with Hardy. He is only 27. He has zero interest around the league. Should be cheap.

After reading the comments on PFT article about our UDFA Longino, or whatever his name is, and his murder investigation. The Bengals who havent had an arrest in years are still looked at as the team of criminals. So F em. Sign this big Kraken monster, who had all charges dropped, and put a team on the field they can really hate because they are going to anyway.

I agree that we're thin at DE -- not counting UDFA Ryan Brown and practice squadder Dezmond Johnson (who is really more of a LB), we only have Dunlap, MJ, Clarke, and Hunt. If one of the starters goes down, we're in trouble.

In the "former high draft pick but washed out with his old team and may be done" category, Werner is probably the best bet. We could look at Da'Quan Bowers, however, if he's healthy and in shape (unlikely).

In the "used to be good but is now much too old" category, I could see us looking at Antonio Smith (aka the Ninja Assassin), who had a relatively productive year with the Broncos last year. Or Randy Starks, since we're poaching ex-Browns.

I actually would like to try someone like Henry Melton, Jason Jones, or Kroy Biermann -- serviceable vets on the right side of 30 who would be useful subs for a year or two. Melton and Jones could rotate inside on pass downs, while Biermann is more of a rush specialist. They're all probably too expensive, though.

He did not have the charges dropped.  He was found guilty in a bench trial, and then through a quirk in NC law was able to appeal to a jury trial where the complainant could no longer be found.  Besides the fact he is complete human filth, did you not witness his behavior while he was with Dallas last year??

I think Hatcher retired. Guys like Werner, Easley and Bowers are still out there.

If Hardy ever admitted he had a problem and agreed to get help than i would give him a shot.

Pacman had a much worse history than him, so I don't know how anyone here could complain about signing a repentant Hardy.

He is completely unrepentant.  If I remember correctly, didn't he admit that most teams asked him if he had ever been diagnosed as bi-polar during the draft process?  That Shefter interview should have sealed his fate as far as getting signed to an NFL roster again.

Is Chris Carter still available?

RE: Predict our "washed up DE" free agent signing this year - OBX Bengal - 05-05-2016

Hardy is not good in the locker room:

"Along the way, Hardy became a constant headache for Jason Garrett. The Cowboys coach met with him at least four times to address his conduct.

Hardy became such a worry over the last month of the season that the club increased its involvement, providing a more active support staff to check in on him, a source said.

A few teammates who had supported Hardy early began to sour on him late in the season, in part because his perpetual tardiness for team meetings never resulted in a reduction of playing time. Tardiness was also an issue for Hardy with his previous teams."

As was mentioned earlier, I'd be up for giving Werner a look.  Seems like the Colts were trying to fit a round peg into a square hole.

Dismissed. Sorry not dropped. Didnt know there was a difference. Dallas is a clown show. With Dez Bryant being a leader and the way their season went he had problems. Thats my main problem with him. Being late to meetings. We arent going to be like Dallas and try to force him in to a leadership position.

They were idiots having him as the mentor to two young high draft picks. Who are now suspended. He would come in as a back up, and far from a leader.

Pickman is far from a choir boy. Do i like him as a person. From what i can tell no i sure dont. Do i like him making plays for my team. I sure do.

I dont have to like Hardy as a man. But i like him as a football player.
