From the White House, Kellyanne urged Fox viewers to buy Ivanka's clothing line - GMDino - 02-09-2017 Video at the link. http://www.dailykos.com/stories/2017/2/9/1631776/-With-the-WH-as-a-backdrop-Conway-urged-Fox-viewers-to-buy-Ivanka-s-clothes-and-broke-federal-law?detail=facebook Quote:Kellyanne Conway, Counselor to the President of the United States, took to Fox & Friends this morning to plea for Fox viewers to go out and buy Ivanka Trump’s clothing line. With the White House emblem in the background, she said, ‘Go buy Ivanka’s stuff!” Here is a brief clip, jump below for the full jaw-dropping clip, transcript and outline of the federal law she appears to have violated this morning. RE: From the White House, Kellyanne urged Fox viewers to buy Ivanka's clothing line - Belsnickel - 02-09-2017 Completely unethical, and potentially illegal. Could result in her being forced out of the administration. Fun, not so much. As a public administrator, the anti-government sentiment, the distrust for what we do, frustrates me for a number of reasons, not the least of which being that it has led to the current administration because of the fallacious outsider narrative. What makes this worse is that now they have cranked up the volume on some of the behaviors that create a distrust in government. That's what I am reading, since she literally said "commercial", there's no arguing it wasn't intended to be a promotion/advertisement of something. Then again, as far I have read, Trump has only "resigned" from leadership of his companies, he is still the exclusive beneficiary and makes money from what they do. I imagine there will be many ethics violations to come. RE: From the White House, Kellyanne urged Fox viewers to buy Ivanka's clothing line - Bengalzona - 02-09-2017 And..... that is another ethics violation, from an admin that appears to not understand what ethics are or why they are important. I hope this trend changes soon. And in other news: ![]() RE: From the White House, Kellyanne urged Fox viewers to buy Ivanka's clothing line - GMDino - 02-09-2017 (02-09-2017, 04:27 PM)Bengalzona Wrote: And..... that is another ethics violation, from an admin that appears to not understand what ethics are or why they are important. RE: From the White House, Kellyanne urged Fox viewers to buy Ivanka's clothing line - samhain - 02-09-2017 If anything brings this administration down, I feel like it'l most likely be a jilted ex-aide or staffer. Kellyanne did a lot for him in the campaign, but she's probably a good candidate to be the first one out. I think anyone on the front lines bearing responsibility for defending everything our infantile chief tweets is a good candidate for replacement at any time. Hell, I feel sorry for the poor jackoffs. They might actually want out. One of these clowns will leave jilted. Trump will get his Dick Morris in due time, i.e. a stool pigeon willing to spill absolutely any unsavory aspect of the day to day operations of the administration. This is actually starting to become fun. I was reading about the trust scenario, as well. The only SSN ties to the trust is Trump's own. Now, the case will have to be made for the emoluments stuff, but there is the matter of the DC Trump Hotel lease, which he is in violation of with the current structure. The issue at hand is how does the GSA handle the situation? The administrators that handle the lease have the legal standing to terminate it, but they are accountable to the current administration and so risk their jobs in doing so. If the lease is left in place, the administrators that calculate the rent annually based on the terms of the contract are torn between two masters. They have a fiduciary responsibility to the taxpayers, but they will be expected to provide a favorable calculation to Trump because of the trust. Those two interests are in conflict with each other, hence the term that gets thrown around everywhere. It isn't fair to the administrator caught in the middle who, if performing their duty to the taxpayers either by terminating the contract or calculating the rent a particular way, will likely lose their jobs. At the first level, but there can be action through the courts if citizens are concerned that their interests are not being served by the action (or inaction) on this situation. RE: From the White House, Kellyanne urged Fox viewers to buy Ivanka's clothing line - BoomerFan - 02-09-2017 Even the GOP isn't happy about this. House of Representatives member Jason Chaffetz is a Utah Republican who chairs the House Oversight committee. He said about Trump doing this through Conway “What he's doing is highly unethical." That's not good for the Trump administration. Not good at all. Not good at all. Doesn't matter, so long as Trump has massive support from people who don't care about or don't understand ethical violations not attributed to Hillary. Ethics was never going to matter in a Trump administration. Trump incompetence/corruption will only matter as various fractions of supporters begin to peel away from Trump over the next few months--e.g., people who depend upon the Affordable Care Act but wanted Trump to get rid of Obamacare; people who want to punish Muslims and immigrants, but didn't realize it might hurt trade and jobs and increase taxes and the cost of goods; military serving in the Persian Gulf who suddenly realize Trump might start a war over people in "little boats" giving Navy ships the finger; out of work coal miners who realize Trump can't/won't bring their jobs back, but he can destroy their Medicare; the 8% of African-Americans who voted for Trump without realizing that was a vote for Sessions and voter id laws; public school teachers who wanted out from under government bureaucracy and got Devos; manufacturers who get tired of tweet-shaming. Trump will eventually lose the critical mass of popular support that helps him keep senators and congressmen who don't like him in line. Then the scandals, the tax return, the Russian and Chinese loans, and children in charge of businesses will matter.
