Remember the complaints in Iraq about lack of up-armored Humvees and such.  Plus I know some grunts who found themselves renting Toyota pick ups and Volkswagen vans when they arrived in Afghanistan because they lacked equipment.

Well, historically we have had good generals and admirals who placed priority developing solid (if not spectacular) strategies, getting the troops and equipment where they need to be at the right times, and keeping the supply line running and protected. Those are the types of things that win wars. In the past 100 years, we have done it better than anybody.

I don't disagree with that. I think British and Germans were very good as well.  But right now clearly no other country can put together an effective massive invasion force and pull it off.

I am just still irritated about a certain Secretary of Defense insisting we can invade dangerous, populous countries with minimal force. And then forget what happens when the war of fronts and movement is over, and forget nation building too.
