Singers who become actors
#1
Lots of singers try their hand at acting. Some are pretty good and some are horrid.

Cher and Justin Timberlake are examples of the ones who pull it off.

Any examples of others that succeeded or failed?

Deceitful, two-faced she-woman. Never trust a female, Delmar, remember that one simple precept and your time with me will not have been ill spent.

You got Harry Connick Jr. from the Will Smith suggestion didn’t you? As soon as I seen Will Smith, I immediately thought about his wing man in Independence Day. LOL

I once karaoke’d and acted like I could sing. Does that count? If it does?

The definitive list.

But I'd add the reverse:  Jamie Foxx and Joaquin Phoenix

Althought you forgot JLo and Timberlake

Timberlake was listed in the original post, so I didn't add him.  JLo is a good add.

More Good:
Nick Jonas - before you pan me, he is a good actor. Played the pilot in the 2nd Jumanjii movie. Feel free to question his singing skills though - lol

Questionable either direction

Only after they are sent to general population in prison. Ninja

Ice T and LLcoolj are more than rappers.  Ice T has a fairly awesome heavy metal band called - Body Count.

Ice Cube is a straight rapper, but still an accomplished actor.

Saw Billy Bob Thornton sing at Levon Helms "Ramble at the Ryman" show and he was not too bad actually.

Sheryl Crow, Robert Plant, Sam Bush, Buddy Miller, Steve Earl, Larry Campbell, John Hiatt, Emmylou Harris, and Allison Krauss.

Couple others I can not think of now and the biggest stars did not go on movie or credits for some reason.  One of the best shows of my life and I have seen some great ones.

Note that the Ryman is the original church turned into the Grand Ole Opry for those who may not know and I highly recommend taking in a show there. We make pilgrimage once a year.

Mick Jagger has been offered many times to play the devil in films but has always declined.

But he did do others.

Can never leave off my all-time favorite rock n roller Levon Helm who was stellar in Coal Miners Daughter.

His singing voice has so much soul in it and accounts for most all of The Band's best songs.
