I said when this all started that my only concern was keeping the Senate. It's looking more and more likely that the Dems were unable to buy it.

Republicans: Not Giving A Shit About the Presidency Since 2015

Democrats were the only ones spending money to support candidates?

That's a hot take there.

A Biden presidency with a Republican-majority Senate is a small price to pay for getting Twitler out of office.
Everything in this post is my fault.

Im no political genius, but the notion of boring Biden and a Republican Senate sitting around doing nothing sounds like a decent time compared to the insanity of the past 4 years.

Manage the country, get the pandemic under control, all while not having a major national security threat and certified idiot in the Oval Office.

Sounds delightful.

While I spent little real attention, regarding the senate races I heard the words record-setting and extraordinarily large sums of money and hugely outspending their GOP opponent quite a lot.

It seems fair to say they tried to buy the seats. I don't blame them, that's how it works. But using a lot of money to get the seats was kind of their move.

You think the insanity will stop?

The insanity by the single most important official in the country? Yes. You won't have to wake up and check what he tweeted at 3 AM while watching cable news. It's not much but it's a start.

They did spend an insane amount of money. $50 million in KY netted a 38% showing.

No, but having insanity as president is a bit much. Trump is free to be the craziest biggest lying private citizen he likes.

That is fair.
I just am reminded that all those people that remained in office by being 100% sycophantic to Trump are still there.
And QAnon people.
And Trump.
And his "betrayed" followership.

This won't exactly be quiet.

They are limited in what they can do and they are merely a spoke in a big wheel.

If the Republicans hold the senate then nothing radical is happening on either side.

Doesn't really matter who you compare this number to. A QAnon member. Holy cow.

These are such proud days for the Republicans. Classless Sycophants at best, QAnon members at worst, four years of Trump on top, but hey some of them heroically speak out against blatantly interfering in the vote count on the president's behalf, so yeah!

I said earlier in this thread, I think the Republican party will splinter in the coming years. One part will be the Trump/Qanon crowd and the other will be the more traditional Republican, and honestly, you could see democrats do something similar with the ultra Liberals and more conservative ones. I honestly would love to have 3 or 4 parties.

I thought most of us were aware of the record spending by the Dems this cycle, Apparently I was mistaken on the awareness of some of our forum members. Allow me to light a candle:

Quote:Democrats have nearly doubled the spending by Republican candidates up and down the ballot. Democratic contenders are going into the final week of the election spending $6.9 billion while Republicans have put in $3.8 billion into the 2020 fight.

What the hell happened to us? We are so far removed from this, it really is sad to see.

John McCain respecting Obama and refusing to play up the false narratives and scare tactics were seen as a lack of commitment and effort to Republicans.  That's what set them down the path they're far along now, it seems.

Oh so they just spent more?  Like both sides were trying to "buy" the senate but the Democratic party spent more.  'Cause you said:  "It's looking more and more likely that the Dems were unable to buy it." "it" = the senate.

Bad democrats!  How dare they raise and spend more money!!!

Were they trying to win?  Pffft!

You are funny sometimes.
