That's a joke. Saying it should be banned by a constitutional amendment is not negated by saying you'd "probably" go to a gay wedding. This is the guy who said gay men are bad role models for teens, compared the scouts standing against gays to Sam Houston standing against slavery, and said the scouts were wrong when they decided to allow gay members. Can't say I am surprised that he is against gay marriage.

That said, Rick Perry has long supported those protected classes covered by the Civil Rights Act and other federal protection laws, so that is to be commended. And while he says states should decide their drug laws, he doesn't think Texas should allow medical marijuana. Weighing all of that, you do not get a check on civil liberties.
