He said peacefully and patriotically, so why would he think they were going to cause any problems?

Well yeah, him supposedly being a man of high moral integrity, once he saw that it wasn't peaceful he shouldve taken action to stop it. If he was supposedly willing to run into an active shooter situation, why wouldn't he be willing to chase after a mob full of his supporters? I'd wager he would've been less likely to get hurt as they wouldn't want to injure the man who they think had the election stolen from him and rightfully deserved to be in power.
