You're safer now than you were in the 70s (at least as far as terrorist attacks go).

We're still the safest country (at least as far as terrorist attacks go).

And also, I disagree that non-American cultures hate us. That's a horrible and erroneous stereotype. There may be some groups that hate us, but you're talking about a few thousand people out of several billion.
