Props to Lou Anarumo and the Defense

Lou has built an entirely new defense from the one he inherited in a short span and did so at technically a bargain rate in the defensive secondary. They spent money on 3 key positions on the defensive line NT and both Defensive Ends.

Building is as important as Defensive Rankings.

Ehhh...

Trae Waynes was tied for the 9th highest paid CB when he got his deal.
Awuzie was the 31st highest paid CB.
Hilton was the 34th highest paid CB.
Vonn Bell was the 20th highest paid S.
Jessie Bates is the 11th highest paid S.
Dax Hill is the 39th highest paid S.

There's been no top-5 paid guys, but the secondary has not been bargain rate. Even if you look at it in terms of right now instead of when they got signed, they have 2 of the top-26 paid safeties, and 2 of the top-36 paid corners. There's a reason why the Bengals are at the 3rd most cap space spent on defense in the league.
