I'm not disagreeing people who cross illegally are usually immediately sent back unless they are minor children traveling alone or with non-parents. The narrative conveniently ignores the numbers who are apprehended and get sent back or who are deported. They want you to think every person who comes across the border is allowed to stay.
The problem at the border comes mostly from asylum seekers. People who have requested asylum are not here illegally. They are granted asylum until a court hearing which because of the lack of funding and personnel right now can take up to several years to occur. Asylum requests are governed by laws which is why they need to be updated
The border bill which Trump and his supporters don't want passed because it would give a "victory" to Joe Biden toughens the asylum laws, making it more difficult to request asylum, as well as puts more money into the administrative side so these requests can be adjudicated on a timely basis. We have to stop relying on legally dubious executive orders.
