While I'll admit that Trump has turned the GOP upon its ear and we never know what the guy is going to do, the idea that he would enact such sweeping and overwhelming regulations upon businesses seems like the opposite of what I'd expect from 40+ years of republican supply-side economic policy.

I'm a bit rusty, but I think what you are describing is Keynesian economics, and the idea that the government needs to intervene so the people can have a "fair shot" against market forces is way too socialist-adjacent for this country to accept.  Then again, if Trump did it I guess a lot of people who normally hate the idea of government regulations would approve of it, so damn...Trump could legit be the dude who undoes 40+ years of Reaganomic damage to this country.  Of course, that's why I wouldn't see him doing it.  It's easier when a republican is in office to say "Can't afford stuff?  Quit being a dumbass and choosing to be poor."  That's pretty much what Reagan said, so again Trump doing a 180 from what the GOP has been doing my whole life would be pretty interesting, to say the least.
