He wasn't saying that I was condoning it, and I was saying that child marriage is a part of society and more normal than many people realize. It's becoming less so, but it's not something that is in our distant past and doesn't happen anymore. Our laws still allow for it in many places and our societal norms make the majority feel, I would say uncomfortable, about it, but in all honesty I see more shunning of same-sex adult couples than the idea of child marriage within the laws of our land.
