Who knew it was intelligent to enter into a lease agreement where within 3 months or so (depending on the kindness of the landlord) you not only would be looking for a new place to live (due to being evicted), but you would be further burdened by the debt of back rent due?

No, you're wrong because you can't imagine a single renter who wants a two bedroom apartment and when given an example you you said no because that wasn't the way it was explained in the article.
