If you don't think the actions of the prospective Presidential family should factor into the discussion of the election, then that's your choice; however, it may surprise you to discover that they do. 

Is Trump running for office now?  Do those 11-year-old statements contrast or complement his current campaign behavior?

Shades of Billy Carter. Family members' behavior may "factor in" to the discussion, but finally it is the candidate we vote for and not the family member.
