I wouldn't "praise" him for his intellect, since he has so misused it in his career of opportunism. But that intellect will make him an interesting choice for Secretary of State. He will have a much better sense of the consequences of Trump's foreign policy choices. That could lead to conflict with Trump, or Gingrich rationalizing crazy policy choices to keep his job, perhaps even knowing it will make him look bad in the future.

But I also think, better than other people around Trump, he recognizes that Trump is not a person you reason with. You agree with him constantly and get him to change his mind or see the light by planting ideas in his head and acting as if Trump himself came up with them.

Newt certainly is equipped for the job. He also isn't afraid to criticize Trump or call him out. Trump may be able to put his ego aside and see that for its worth. For all that I disagree with him for ideologically, Newt is an intelligent man.
