There's a lot to compare them.  Namely the desire to escape to a land where they can better themselves and be freer.

Yes, most of our ancestor went through the right steps...and those steps should be followed...but I can't fault someone trying to better themselves. I *can* want them to do things the right way and I *can* want out country to treat them humanely.
