Alabama reinstates work requirement for food stamps...
#6
Don't celebrate too hard guys. Alabama is THE state when it comes to shifting welfare cases over to disability benefits. It gets worse, because people who are put on "disability" are much less likely to return to the workforce than those on welfare. This is where the misconception that people who are welfare are on it for life so there is no difference comes back to bite us in the arse (well, those of us who are paying attention beyond the misleading cheerleading).

The short of it is that lower-skilled and lower-educated jobs require people to be on their feet and/or do lots of lifting and manual work. This leads to legit injury and chronic issue, but our service-oriented society isn't flush with desk jobs or other low-impact jobs these people can do in order to contribute to society so we have to put 'em on welfare or put 'em on disability.

And this is such a kick in the nuts, boy did we get duped sort of measure that I can provide links from BOTH NPR and Breitbart that call out Alabama specifically for this shady practice. Hell, one county in Alabama has 1 in 4 adults that are of working age on disability. Hooray, welfare is down in Alabama...yay. Seriously, let's hope more states DON'T fall for this surface level type of ruse.
